    Anyone has information about common topics/syllabus for both prelims and mains exam?

    Common syllabus topic in Prelims and Mains,are any?
    From recent syllabus,it has been analysed that few part of Pre. and Mains syllabus are in common(having common topics).
    Did you get any?

    Examination Pattern of UPSC civil service examination is following as according to the official recruitment notification published this year by UPSC board

    Preliminary Examination : There will be following two papers and syllabus is also mentioned topic wise

    Paper I - General Studies - Objective Type - 200 marks

    * Current Events of National and International Importance
    * History of India and Indian National Movement
    * India and World Geography - Social, Physical and Economic geography of India and the World
    * Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues etc.
    * Economic and Social Development, Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives etc.
    * General Issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-Diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization
    * General Science and Technology

    Paper II - CSAT - Civil Service Aptitude Test - Objective type - 200 marks

    * Comprehension
    * Interpersonal Skills Including Communication Skills
    * Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability
    * Decision Making and Problem Solving
    * General Mental Ability
    * Basic Numeracy - Numbers and their relations, Orders of Magnitude, etc. Data Interpretation - Charts, Graphs, Tables and Data Sufficiency - Class X Level
    * English Language - Comprehension Skills - Class X Level

    Mains Examination : This section contains following papers and all papers will be conventional

    >> Paper I - Section A - Essay for 200 marks and English Comprehension and English Precis for 100 marks from matriculation and X standard level

    >> Paper II - General Studies I - 250 marks

    * Indian Heritage and Indian Culture
    * History and Geography of the World and Society

    >> Paper III - General Studies II - 250 marks

    * Indian governance
    * Indian Polity and System
    * Indian Constitution
    * Social Justice and International Relations

    >> Paper IV - General Studies III - 250 marks

    * Science and Technology
    * Economic Development
    * Bio-Diversity
    * Environment
    * Security and Disaster Management

    >> Paper V - General Studies IV - 250 marks

    * Ethics
    * Integrity and Aptitude

    >> Paper VI - Optional Paper I - 250 marks

    >> Paper VII - Optional Paper II - 250 marks

    Optional paper syllabus will be from the subject that you choose as an optional subject for mains exam and below I have listed all those subjects that are available to choose and you may choose any one from them

    * Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
    * Anthropology
    * Botany
    * Chemistry
    * Civil Engineering
    * Commerce and Accoutancy
    * Economics
    * Electrical Engineering
    * Geography

    * Law

    * Medical Science
    * Mechanical Engineering
    * Philosophy
    * Physics
    * Political Science and International Relations
    * Psychology
    * Public Administration
    * Sociology
    * Statistics
    * Zoology

    Qualifying in each paper is compulsory so you have to prepare well for every paper to get qualified in mains exam and to be eligible for interview process and if you think about the syllabus then see the paper I of the prelims and all general studies papers of mains examination means they are linked internally that's why you have to care more for general studies papers to get profit in mains examination

    Thank you, I know the syllabus, but tell me the common topics in both pre and mains,in terms of coverage of syllabus of GS.
