    Hello

YES YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR APPLYING IN IES EXAM.
The educational qualification for IES is a engineering degree in any stream,as you have a engineering degree you are eligible.
Now the point is that in IES,whatever your stream was in engineering you only have four options to apply for
    1)Mechanical
    2)Electronics and communication
    3)Civil
    4)Electrical.

That is when you will apply you will have to choose subjects of these four only, you will have the option of these four only. You will have to apply in any one category and it does not really matter what your stream was in engineering, you will have to choose any one of this four.

    Dear Friend

Why are you worrying ,I know that at present almost 85 % of candidates of engineering have confusion that only aspirants of four core branches of engineering are eligible to appear for the Indian Engineering services the best technical exam conducted by the UPSC .

It is not that any one who has bachelor's degree in engineering /technology in any discipline from a recognized university is eligible to appear for the IES examinations and even final year candidates can also give this exam.

So you are eligible for this exam.

But there is one limitations ,since you are a student of biomedical engineering ,you have to choose your subjects for the examinations from the core branches that are:

    1.Civil engineering

    2.Mechanical engineering

    3.Electrical engineering

    4.Electronics and telecommunication engineering.

The age limitations for this exam is as below:

    General:21-30 years

    OBC:21-33 years

    SC/ST:21-35 years.

The no of attempts for this examination also depend upon category to which you belong:

    General:4

    OBC:7

    SC/ST:no limit.

Examination pattern for this exam is as below:

For any further details you may visit www.upsc.gov.in.If you have any other query regarding this exam ,you may leave your message here.
