Can I do well in IAS Mains (Mathematics) without having coaching for it?

    Maths as optional
I have pursued Bsc Mathematics. I wish to choose maths as one of my optional subject. I am good at it. I am soon going to join a coaching center which does not offer maths. In fact there is no center in my area which provides this subject. Without guidance, just on my own preparation can I do well in this exam.

Yes you can do well in UPSC without coaching classes but you should have the basic knowledge of the same.
But Coaching institutes provide extra knowledge for exams, which is necessary for competitions.
So you should join coaching classes.
    Thank You!
