first of all there is no optional subject in prelims ..

so you have to give 400 marks 2 paper for Gk and

    >> if you qualified in this then you have to choose subject for mains and in that you have computer related quetions paper ..

    >>just go through this and go on your future ..

    all the very best.

    Dear Aspirant
New pattern of civil service examination gives equal opportunity to candidates and it mainly now tests student aptitude towards Civil services. So new pattern of civil service examination consists of only two papers of MCQ types. Paper 1 consists question of GS and paper 2 consists question on English comprehension,DI and aptitude.

Now Computer science is not provided as optional by UPSC.That's why you didn't find it in the list.So if you pass preliminary examination then you have to select different optional among 25 list of optional given by UPSC to appear in the main examination.

    All the best

according to the new selection procedure of civil services examination you need not to choose any subject for prelims, in prelims you need to study all the subjects but in mains you need to choose only one subject. but there is no computer science related subject in upsc eubjects.

yes if you the computer knowledge and its subject..then why not you can opt for computer science as main subject in main exam.as per the option subjects present there is no subject having computer..

choose the subject in which you have knowledge

to attend the main exam, you have to clear the civil service preliminary test which contains objective questions.

optional subject you would have in main exam

    good luck

    thank you

Re: Can I opt a subject related to computers for Prelims?

Friend as per your statement there is no options for to choose in preliminary(CSAT)exam of Civil Services.

You asked computer related subjects is included within 22 subjects for mains exams. So, that you are to choose subjects for mains exams.from 22 subjects only.

In preliminary exam. there is no question of subject choosing option First you are to crack Prelim(CSAT) then mains subjects where you are to choose subjects.

Preliminary exam, consist with 2(two)papers. 1. GK. 2. English and aptitude.

For applying the Indian Civil Services you need to be a Graduate from the recognized University and Age: For general : 21-30 years, relaxations are there.

For details you can visit official website http://www.upsc.gov.in for on line application log on http://www.upsconline.nic.in

    Thank You,
