    Hello,

Yes, You can apply for IES exam but there are only 4 fields that you have to choose from to write the exam:
    1- Electronics
    2- Electrical
    3- Civil
    4- Mechanical

You can choose any of the above but I think you would like to choose from electrical and electronics.

    Eligibility
    Age:
    General (21-30 yrs), OBC (21-33 yrs), SC/ST (21- 35 yrs)

    Attempts:
    General : 4
    OBC : 7
    SC/ST : Unlimited

    Thanks,
    goyalk

Well, Mr Cenarocks , Please correct your answer.

Now, why you are wrong ..

According to eligiblity criteria of IES examinations,,

Any engineer is eligible to appear for IES but he/she must appear for these 4 branches :

    >> ELectrical

    >> ECE

    >> Mechanical

    >> Civil

Re: Can instrumentation and control engineers apply for UPSC IES exam?

Sorry to say that instrumentation and control engineers are not applicable for IES exam because below given streams are only applicable for this exam-

    1.Civil Engineering
    2.Electrical Engineering
    3.Mechanical engineering.
    4.Electronics and Communication Engineering.

The applicant age should between 21 yrs to 30 yrs.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC candidate.

So you can try for others upsc exams like CDS , IAS , IPS exam........
