UPSC conduct the IES(Indian Engineering Services) exam every year for various posts in technical field. for IES you just have completed Engineering degree in any discipline. you can also apply for IES while studying in final year of Engineering degree.
but you have to write IES exam by selecting any one from the following four streams:
1. Mechanical Engineering
2. Electrical Engineering
3. Civil Engineering
4. Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
for IES your age should be within 21 years to 30 years on 1 January of the year of exam. There is also relaxation in upper age according to government norms vise 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

Indian Engineering Service exam taken by UPSC for recruiting engineers in various department.
The criteria for the exam are below :
=> one must be minimum B.E./B.Tech from any recognized university in any field.
=> A M.Sc students are also eligible for the exam.
=> A final year student can also give the exam.
=> Age limit :
21-30 for general cast
21-33 for obc cast
21-35 for sc/st cast
21-35 for ex-serviceman
21-40 for pwd
So any indian citizen who fulfill the above criteria can give the exam.
The exam structure are below :
Section 1 :
It consists three objective type papers.
General ability
Technical paper-1
Technical paper-2
Section 2:
It consists two descriptive type papers.
Technical paper-1
Technical paper-2
Section 3:
Interview
For the preparation point of view one have to study all the subjects that one studied in his/her graduation.

IES stand for the Indian Engineering Services.
The IES examination is conducted by the UPSC once in every year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
If you are interested in the IES examination then to appear in the IES entrance examination you need the following eligibility criteria :
Eligibility Criteria for IES Examination.
--> Pass the degree in the engineering field with electronics, electrical, mechanical, Civil branch. Final year candidate can also apply.
--> The age must be between 21 to 30 years at the time of examination. The upper age relaxation is also applicable for the reservation category.
Note :- The Computer Science and Information Technology branch is not eligible to apply for the IES entrance examination.
So, these are the basic eligibility criteria for the IES entrance examination. If you satisfy the above eligibility criteria then you are eligible to apply for the IES examination.

The Full Form Of IES is the Indian Engineering services Exam. The IES Exam is one of the UPSC Examinations conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission.
The Basic Requisites for IES Exam are :
* The minimum educational qualification required is graduation in engineering in any stream from any recognized college/university.
* The candidate must have to choose any one stream from the below mentioned streams :
1) Civil Engineering
2) Mechanical Engineering
3) Electronics & Communication Engineering
4) Electronics & Electrical Engineering
* The Age limit for IES Exam is 21-30 years for those candidates who belong to Open Category.
* Relaxation in upper age is given to OBC and SC/ST candidates as follows :
- OBC Candidates get a relaxation of 3 years in upper age.
- SC/ST Candidates get a relaxation of 5 years in upper age.
The Number of attempts allowed for IES Exam are :
