Union public service commission conducts CSAT each year. this exam is for IAS, IPS, IFS, IFoS, IRS, IES etc. Exam is once in a year and with approx. 1000 vacancies in all india including all the services listed. Notification of exam comes every year in month of november to december, exam period is usually in March to May followed by interview procedures and followed by job training.
Every year around approx. 5,00,000 candidates appear for the prelims exam, amongst them approx. 15,000 reaches to Mains exam and from them near by 1000 reaches on the job. Those 1000 Civil servents will go to Hyderabad for training of 2 year (only for IAS) at Lal bahadur Sastri Administration center, and other than IAS officers moves to other places like delhi, chennai, dehradun etc. for remaining 1 year of training.
whole process is life changing one, so if you dont get through the exam than also your all over perspective will change totally. That is the power of IAS.
