    Dear friend

    First of all ,I would like to tell you that IAS stands for the Indian Administrative services and IPS stands for the Indian Police services.For both the services civil services examinations is conducted by the UPSC.

    Please make one thing clear that after clearing all the stages of civil services examinations,You will alloted the diferent services like IAS,IPS depending upon the rank that you have secured .

    So,the question paper for the both services is same.

    The examinations pattern is also same is ;

    For first stage that is called CSAT :

    Hi Friend,

    Yes, Prelim paper of Both IAS And IPS are same.

    >> But when you clear Prelims then the paper of mains exam is different.

    >> They can not afford prelim paper of Different exam has different paper.

    >> So there is same paper of Both exam if both are at same day.

    IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service .

    IPS stands for Indian Police Service .

    The Candidate should be complete the bachelor degree or Engineering degree in any stream from recognized university and there is no minimum percentage of mark for this examination and final year candidates also eligible for this examination.

    Both exam is conducted by UPSC through Civil Service Exam .

    So the Question papers are also same .

    After the Written exam UPSC separate the post as per you marks in civil service exam .

    yes the exam of ias and ips are same. the exam is civil services examination and the whole procedure is same.

    Both the posts are recruited through Civil Services Exam of UPSC conducted once in year.

    Question Papers of both the exams are same.

    Posts are allotted on the basis of Rank scored in Civil Services Examination.

    If you scored good rank, then you can get IAS Post.

    Candidates will have to pass three stages to crack this exam:

    Yes, the question papers are same for both the posts. The UPSC conducts the CSAT examination for both the IAS and IPS service. It has three stages of examination, i.e., Preliminary, Main and PI. After the successfully pass the Preliminary examination, you have to appear in Main and after Qualifying Main, you have to appear in PI. To know more details please visit www.upsc.gov.in Thanks....     Dear examination pattern for both exams is different as well as eligibility criteria and more details are following for both exams according to recent official notification provided by UPSC board

    1. IAS - Indian Civil Service Examination : To apply for this examination, you should posses a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized institute or university and if you are appearing for final year examination or awaited for final year result then also you can apply for this examination

    Your age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and if you comes under reserved categories then you may claim for upper age relaxation after completing 30 years of age which follows as 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC Category candidates

    Examination Pattern for IAS or Civil Service 2013 : There will be following papers in two sections

    1. Preliminary Exam : Two papers in objective type pattern and each paper contains 200 marks, qualifying in this stage examination is compulsory for all aspirants then only they will be allowed to apply for mains exam

    2. Mains Exam : There will be following papers conducted in conventional type pattern and qualifying in each paper is compulsory

    >> Paper I - Essay - 200 marks and English Precis and Comprehension - 100 marks = 300
    >> Paper II - General Studies - 250 marks
    >> Paper III - General Studies - 250 marks
    >> Paper IV - General Studies - 250 marks
    >> Paper V - General Studies - 250 marks
    >> Paper VI - Optional Paper I - 250 marks
    >> Paper VII - Optional Paper II - 250 marks

    UPSC board will provide you a list of optional subjects and you may choose any one from that and list of all optional subjects is following

    >> Must be the Citizen of India
    >> Must have completed 05 years of continuos and actual service as Deputy Superintendent of Police in States under state police service or

    >> Assistant Commandants in Central Para Military Forces/ Central Police Force/ Border Security Force/ Indo Tebetian Border Police/ Central Industrial Security Force/ Shashatra Seema Bal or Officers of the rank of Captain or Major or Equivalent in armed forces

    >> Aspirant must have an unblemished service record at all time

    Age of the aspirant should not be less than 21 years and more than 35 years and relaxation in upper age as per government guidelines for this limited competitive examination which are as - 1 year for OBC category and 2 year for SC/ST category candidates

    >> Examination Pattern for Indian Police Service Limited Competitive Exam 2013 :

    >> Paper I - Objective type for 200 marks and you will be given 2 hours

    >> Paper II - Objective type for 200 marks in 2 hours for complete paper

    >> Paper III - English Language - Descriptive Type test - 200 marks and 3 hours of duration

    >> Paper IV - Essay - Descriptive Type test - 200 marks and 3 hours of duration

    >> Paper V - General Studies - Descriptive Type test - 200 marks and 3 hours for duration

    Total marks alloted in all papers are - 1000 and remember that paper III - English Language is only qualifying in nature means marks scored in this paper will not be counted for merit ranking

    yes the ias and ips exam have same question paper . but it is totally depend on your opinion that what would you chose in ias and ips exam paper in optional subject .
    other wise all the same paper in ias and ips exam paper .
