Re: Eligibility criteria for Foreign Services examination?

Dear you have asked about eligibility criteria for UPSC Indian Foreign Service Examination 2017 so I would like to say that I am not sure about the future and completely sure about present because according to the official notification for UPSC Indian Civil Service Examination 2013 you should have following eligibility criteria to apply for this examination :

Must have passed bachelor's degree examination in any discipline from a recognized university and age should be minimum 21 years and should not be more than 30 years

Relaxation in upper age can be claimed by reserved category candidates that are 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates

Indian Foreign Service post comes under IAS examination and selection of candidates for IFS Officer post is also done through civil service examination so you should prepare for ICS Examination

First of all you should see that your target is for IFS 2017 so there is a long time you have but do not think that if you will prepare before one year and qualify this examination because this is not so easy so you should start utilizing this time for ICS examination according to you target and start grounding for this examination

Concentrate on your current course that you are pursuing means if you are in 12th class then you should know that NCERT and CBSE books are really helpful in preparing for examination of civil services so you should study in depth of all those subjects that you complete because each subject will be helpful

When you get admission in bachelor's degree then buy some good books to prepare for ICS because if you will cover the syllabus from first year of degree then you will complete it easily within 1 year and manage your graduation examination too and during to pursue second year you should complete practice for this examination under a very good coaching institute because practice is most necessary in case of qualifying examination of any competition and ICS is really tough that requires higher and pure dedication to be qualified so complete it and while pursuing final year, you will be eligible to apply for ICS examination and you must apply and revise all your notes that you have prepared before and practice more over all subjects to get qualified in preliminary examination of IAS

If you qualify prelims then you will have to pass main examination also so you will get enough time to prepare that must be finished under guidance of experienced teachers of any good institute and try to read at least 2 books for each subject more than 15 times before appearing for main examination and get qualified

Top 50 highest scoring candidates will be selected for the post of IFS but only after passing interview so scoring higher rank is must to be eligible for IFS post so prepare with strategy and dedication to score good marks

All other details about this examination are mentioned in attached notification please download and read carefully

    All the best
