The UPSC's preliminary examination has two papers. The first one is General Study and the second one is English and comprehension test. Each paper has the 200 marks each. There is no specific syllabus in these papers. Still it can be said that generally in General Study paper, you can find the questions related to History, pol. science, Economics, Geography and Genera Science etc.. there is a common exam for various govt posts like :- ias/ips /indian foreign services...............
named 'civil services examination'.

since UPSC conducts many examinations and UPSC is not name of any examination.
If you mean Civil services then tehre will be two papers and you need to have good command over G.K and current afffiars .
