of course friend you can be a police officer by the UPSC.

You can be an IPS ( Indian Police Service) through UPSC.

UPSC conducts the civil service exam for the recruitment of IAS,IPS or IRS post of India.

to be an IPS officer you need to do very hard work to crack the civil service exam.

UPSC board conduct a separate exam for police services posts which called - IPS - Indian Police Service

This is the most powerful post under the police department which is directly can get after qualifying the exam and interview process even there are some other posts which are more powerful than IPS Officer which are - DSP - Deputy Superintendent of Police, DGP - Director General of Police etc. but these posts only can get by the promotion after becoming IPS Officer so that you should prepare for IPS exam and to become IPS Officer you should have following eligibilities :

You must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university and if you are pursuing final year of the degree or awaiting for the result or appearing final year exams then you may apply for this exam

Your age should not be lesser than 21 years and more than 30 years and relaxation in upper age would be provided as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates.

After applying for this exam you will have to qualify three diverse steps in this exam which are :

    1. Preliminary Exam : Objective type paper contains 400 marks means each paper contains 200 marks

    2. Mains Exam : You must be qualified in prelims then you would be allowed for mains exam and this exam contains 2000 marks for 7 papers and this would be as subjective type pattern exam and both pre and mains are necessary to qualify to reach to the next step.

    3. Interview Process : After being passed in above mentioned steps you would be called for interview and you will have to perform and show your best in interview process then you will get the chances to become IPS Officer and if you pass in this step then you would become an IPS Officer in India.

    4. Training : After becoming an IPS Officer you would be sent to the training for two year in which you will have to face exam and passing in the training is also important and after successfully completing your training you would be appointed as IPS Officer in a district for a special zone.
