    hi,
CSE is split in to 3 stages namely preliminary, mains and interview.

    prelims:
    paper-1-general studies
    paper-II-aptitude paper(csat)

    mains:
optional subject-I(two papers of 300 marks each)
optional subject-II(two papers of 300 marks each)
GENERAL STUDIES-I(two papers of 300 marks each)
    essay(200 marks)
    language paper(qualifying nature)
    english paper(qualifying nature)

so a total of nine papers.good luck

You can take any two subjects of your choice,
    General studies
    and
English are the compulsory subjects for the mains exams.
