    dear friend,

for IES exam you need to complete or appearing in final year of B.E/B.Tech.
for IES you must reach 21 years on 1 January of the year in which exams are conducted. and you become 21 years on 29th February of 2013. so, you cannot apply for IES exam in 2013. but its not final you should need to check Notification of 2013 Exams for IES when it is released. if in the Eligibility Section of Age Limit it is written any date not latter then 1August,2013 then you can apply for IES in 2013. you can check notification on UPSC official website after release of notification: http://www.upsc.gov.in/

    Good Luck.....

The age criteria for the IES exam is below :
    21-30 for general cast
    21-33 for obc cast
    21-35 for sc/st cast
    21-40 for physically handicapped .

Now you belong to general cast so that minimum your age should be 21 .

As per your birth date currently you are 20 years old so that you are not eligible for the exam .

You will become 21 in next february 2013 so that in 2013 IEs exam you are not allowed but in 2014 you are eligible .

So you have to wait one more year till you become 21 till you can prepare for the exam .

But be sure that for IES exam you have to complete your B.E. / B.Tech fro many recognized university .

    good luck

Re: My date of birth is 29th Feb 1992. Will I be eligible for IES, 2013? I belong to General category.

    Dear Applicant,
According to the age of Yours you have provided here, you have already completed 30 Years of age in February,2012 and by February,2013 You will be 31 Years of age.

Now,according to the Age Criteria for the IES exams,You must not be more than 30 Years of age as on the 1st of June,in which the examination is conducted.

Belonging to the General Category, YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO ANY RELAXATIONS IN THE UPPER AGE LIMIT.
Hence,YOU ARE NO LONGER ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THE INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICE exams AS YOU VIOLATE THE AGE CRITERIA.

However, just for your convenience,I have mentioned the COMPLETE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA for the IES Exams

    [01] NATIONALITY.
You must be a citizen of India,
or,You must be a subject of Nepal,
or,You must be a subject of Bhutan,
or,You must be a Tibetan refugee settled permanently in India before 1962.

    [02] AGE LIMITS.
You must be 21 To 30 Years of age if You belong to the General Category.
The upper age limit of 30 Years is relaxable only by 5 Years for SC,ST and ex-servicemen AND by 3 Years for the OBCs and Physically Disabled.

    [03] ESSENTIAL EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS.
You must hold a Degree in Engineering,in any subject or stream from a recognized university.
Final Year students are also applicable.
Just the passing percentage in aggregate is relevant.

From the above discussion,it can be concluded that YOU CAN NO LONGER GIVE THE IES EXAMS BECAUSE YOU DO NOT MEET THE AGE CRITERIA.

For further details of the IES exams you may visit the official website of the UPSC :: www.upsc.gov.in !!

    ALL THE BEST.

    Dear Guest,

There are 2 IES Exams by name conducted by UPSC every year.

One is Engineering Services Examination & the other is Indian Economics Services Examination. Of which Exam you are talking about. Next time please clear it.

However, the age limit criteria for both the Exams is same i.e. 21-30 years on 1st August of the year of Examination.

Your Age on 1st Aug,2013 will be 21 years 5 months 3 days i.e. you will cross 21 year which is the minimum criteria of IES Examination.

Therefore, you are 100% Eligible for UPSC IES Examination 2013.

I hope the above information will definitely help you.

    Thanks & Regards.
