Well if you have decided to crack the civil services examination then why wasting your time in asking such questions, because people will not tell you the things according to you, all you need to do is to take your own decision, because the decisions taken by you will be the best, only you need the proper guidance for the same.
According to me you should join the coaching academies because they are the best source to prepare for the IAS examination.
Just add some dedication from your side towards the examination then you will definitely crack the examination .
Well here is the eligibility criteria for your convinience to apply for the same after graduation.

    OBC 3 years.

Re: Is it necessary to take coaching for IAS exam from 12th? What is the right time to think about coaching and preparation?

    Dear friend,

Its good that You want to start the preparation early for the IAS exam.

You have passed out your 12th and now must be starting with your Graduation.

So its the correct time for you to start the preparation.

As after your graduation or in the last year probably you will prepare for the exam.

So, Now You are having enough time to prepare for the exam.

You are having minimum 3 years for the exam.

This time is more than enough to prepare for any exam.

I think You should join a good coaching centre which will give you a right direction towards your dream.

The test series they will provide would be All India test series which will show you your present performance and where you stand.

Then you can find out your strength and weakness and accordingly work out to improve your performance.

However Its not necessary to join coaching If you have the confidence to do on your own.

Just purchase some good study material and make a strategy based on daily basis.

    Some extra tips:-

Make a habit of reading one or two newspapers daily.

Also subscribe to one or two monthly magazines.

Also watch some good English News Channels.
