now it is right time to start preparation for IAS exam after 12th standard.
You have to complete your graduation degree to apply IAS exam.
Therefore start preparation from now along with your study.
Your age should be between 21-30 years,. Age relaxation is given to reserved category candidates.
You must be Indian citizen and Physically fit.
To become IAS officer, you have to clear these stages;-
Civil services Preliminary exam, Mains exam and Interview
You have to control on your English and GK to crack this exam.

Well here is the eligibility criteria for your convinience to apply for the same after graduation.
Eligibility criteria for the Civil services examination-
Age should be 21 to 30 years of age.
Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university can apply for the same.
Age relaxation for the civil services examination is as follows-
SC/ST 5 years.
OBC 3 years.
Ex servicemen 5 years.
Disabled defence officer in army during war for commissioned officer 3 years of age relaxation.
Examination pattern-
CSAT stands foir the civil services aptitude test which is the first stage of the examination. It consist of 2 papers and both general studies of 400 marks total.
MAINS examination is if you qualify the examination CSAT then called for the Mains examination.
There will be 9 papers of 2000 marks .
By qualifying the same candidates are called for the interview.
Interview consist of 300 marks.

Its good that You want to start the preparation early for the IAS exam.
You have passed out your 12th and now must be starting with your Graduation.
So its the correct time for you to start the preparation.
As after your graduation or in the last year probably you will prepare for the exam.
So, Now You are having enough time to prepare for the exam.
You are having minimum 3 years for the exam.
This time is more than enough to prepare for any exam.
I think You should join a good coaching centre which will give you a right direction towards your dream.
The test series they will provide would be All India test series which will show you your present performance and where you stand.
Then you can find out your strength and weakness and accordingly work out to improve your performance.
However Its not necessary to join coaching If you have the confidence to do on your own.
Just purchase some good study material and make a strategy based on daily basis.
Some extra tips:-
Make a habit of reading one or two newspapers daily.
Also subscribe to one or two monthly magazines.
Also watch some good English News Channels.
