Should I start preparing for civils immediately after graduation? Will it be better to go for higher studies before starting preparation?

i'm doing my graduation final year...i'll be completing my graduation by 2013..
i'm very much confused with what should i do next...my aim is to become an IPS officer....that is clear and i'm ready for it...my question is should i start preparing for civils immediately after my graduation or should i go for higher studies before that...will it favour me or not..?

    Dear Friend,

It is good to hear that you are focused towards your aim to become IPS Officer.
Coming to your query Yes it advisable to start preparing for the examination as early as possible.
Because earlier you start preparing the better will be chance to cover maximum syllabus as well as chance for multiple revisions.
Since right now you are in your final year you should solely concentrate on your Final Year now.

About higher studies query my friend it is completely your decision whether you want to study ahead or not.
Minimum qualification to apply for UPSC exam is Graduation but if you want you can definitely choose for higher studies.
After all it is always advisable to study as much as possible.
But you should ask yourself whether you wanna do higher studies or not.
You should discuss this with your parents and family.
Many chose to study for higher studies after they secure a Job with Government too.
Like people do MBA while doing their Job.
But it requires lot of hard work and time to manage the both.

    About your Civil Service Query.
After your examination gets over you can start preparing for it in your vacation period if you want.
Preparation is all depends on your passion to achieve your desired Goal in life.
If you want to score the best in the exam than you have to start at the earliest.
The more you will give to your preparation in studies the better will be the outcome in your examination.

Hope I tried to convey my message and helped you out in your query.

    All the best for future.

    Regards.
