Re: What is the importance of Arts subjects in IAS exams?

    Dear Aspirant

It is really good that you are focused on your aim at such stage .There are only one optional provided by UPSC in main examination but apart from all papers are complusory Preliminary examination consists of two compulsory papers. Paper 1 of General Studies and Paper 2 consisting questions of English comprehension, reasoning ,aptitude

Similarly Main examination consists of four papers of general studies groups as
General Studies 1:Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society
General Studies 2:Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations
General Studies 3:Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management
General Studies 4:Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude
So you can see most of the compulsory papers covers a wide range of arts subjects.Hence importance of arts subjects increases.Study materials of arts subject are easily available So most people refer arts subjects
