    What is the pattern of ISS (Indian Statistical Services) exam?

    This is Panthampalli.Anitha doing M.Sc statistics in IIT (indian institute of technology) Bombay.
    I Have completed my first year successfully. I want to attempt indian statistical service ISS exam in the next year. so, I need some guidance for that, i want the detailed pattern of this exam

    Its good to know your interest in Indian Statistical Service examination as you are pursuing your master's degree i that stream from IIT Bombay so you have very good opportunity to secure your future in central statistical and economic services of India

    Examination Pattern for Indian Statistical Service Examination : There will be following papers conducted :

    Paper I - General English - 100 Marks

    Paper II - General Studies - 100 Marks

    Paper III - Statistics I - 200 Marks

    Paper IV - Statistics II - 200 Marks

    Paper V - Statistics III - 200 Marks

    Paper VI - Statistics IV - 200 Marks

    Total marks for all six papers - 1000 and qualifying in each paper is mandatory so you should remember this thing when you start preparation and cover everything as well as you could. 3 hours will be given to candidate for each paper

    The question papers in all the subjects will be of Conventional (Essay) Type

    All Question papers must be answered in english. Question will be set in english only

    If you pass written examination then you have to go through personality test or Viva Voice conducted by the board as per rules of the government and if you pass that test then you will become ISS Officer in India

    Important Dates for ISS Examination 2013

    Start Date of Online Application - 17-08-2013

    Last Date of Online Application - 16-09-2013

    Date of Examination - 09-11-2013

    If you have completed your master's degree in statistics then you can apply for this exam before the mentioned date and if not then you should complete and wait for next year's ISS examination and be prepared till that time
