    IPS stands for Indian Police service.IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.This exam is conduct through Civil Service Exam .

    Those candidate have completed graduation degree from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.

    Age criteria :

    General category student:- 21-30 years.
    OBC relaxation in upper age +3 years.
    SC/ST relaxation in upper age +5 years.

    No. Attempt:

    General - max. 4
    OBC - max. 7.
    SC/ST - No limit.

    IPS exam is consist of 3 process - Preliminary Exam . Mains Exam and Personal Interview .

    Hello,
    You have to apply for Civil Services Examination.
    Civil Services Examination is conducted by UPSC every year for the recruitment of candidates for the post of IAS, IRS, IPS. You just have to satisfy the basic eligibility criteria to appear for the Exam.

    The basic eligibility criteria for Civil Services Exam are as follows:
    The candidate must hold any degree in any discipline from any recognized university. Final year degree students are also eligible
    The age limit is 21-30 yrs
    The maximum number of attempts for General category is 4
    The candidate should be Indian

    Special Physical Requirements For IPS
    1.Minimum height of 165 cm for Men and 150 cm for Women (minimum height is relaxable to 160 and 145 cm for Men and Women respectively in the case of candidates belonging to ST and to races such as Gorkhas, Garhwalias, Assamese, Kumaonis, Nagaland Tribals etc.)

    2.Min Chest girth fully expanded: 84 cm for Men and 79 cm for Women. Expansion of 5 cm for Men and Women.

    3.Total amount of Myopia (including the cylinder) should not exceed minus 4.00 D and total amount of Hypermetropia (including the cylinder) should not exceed plus 4.00 D

    4.Presence of Squint is a disqualification

    Eligibility then you can apply for UPSC - IPS - Indian Police Service post :

    Educational Qualification : If you have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 50% marks or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized university then you are eligible according to educational qualification.

    Age Limit : If your age is between 21-30 years.
    If you belongs to reserved category then you may get upper age relaxation in age as per government standards which would be about 5 years for SC/STs and 3 years for OBC category candidates.


    Physical Standards :

    >>Height - Male - 165 cm for general candidates and 160 for reserved category candidates

    >>Height - Female - 150 cm and 145 for reserved category candidates

    >>Chest - Male - Minimum 84 cm and expansion of minimum 5 cm

    >>Chest Female - Minimum 79 cm and expansion of minimum 5 cm

    The qualification required to apply in the Indian police Services is graduation fr​om any stream from any recognized university through any mode of education.
    The IPS is serving the civilians and for that the selection comity UPSC ,selects candidates after rigorous and tough process.This is the real test of the candidates,which he.she has to withstand and if done successfully gets selected for the most prestigious and powerful job in our country.

    That is why the stream of qualification does not matter here,only the graduation,even you will not be allowed to choose the subject of your own wish for the exam.There is a list of the subjects and you will have to choose one from there,that might be your known or unknown subject.You will have facility to choose subjects of your own to appear for the exam,but only from the list provided by the UPSC.

    IPS means Indian Police Service.

    Eligibility conditions are as follows:Educational eligibility: Any degree from recognized university.

    This is applicable for general category.

    There is upper age relaxation as follows

    3 years for OBC.


    5 years for SC/ST


    Exam Pattern:

    Number of Attempts:

    Four attempts for general, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs

    UPSC Civil services Preliminary exam is on 19-05-2013.

    Hello friend,
    Indian police service(IPS) exam is conducted by UPSC in every year.
    The qualifications will be required for IPS:
    Educational qualification:
    1.The candidate must be a bachelor degree holder or any equivalent in any recognized University of India.
    2.Those in final degree is also apply for IPS.
    Age:
    1.For general category the minimum age limit is 21 year and the maximum age limit is 30 year at the time of examination.
    2.The upper age limit will be relaxed by 3 year for OBC candidate & 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
    3.The upper age limit is also relaxed in favour of Defence service personnels.
    Other Eligibility:
    The aspirant should be a citizen of India.
    These are the minimum qualifications will be needed to become an IPS.

    The necessary qualification that you must have are :-

    1. First of all you must be a graduate
    2. Then you have to ensure that you have done your graduation from a recognized university
    3. Your age should be between 21-30 years
    4. If you belong to SC, ST or OBC then you get relaxation in your UPPER AGE LIMIT
    5. There is no minimum percentage requirement
    6. There is limited number of attempts so prepare well
    7. Choose subject wisely as they play a main role in a candidates success.
    8. You can give the exam being graduated from any stream.
    9. If you are applying for IPS then ensure that you have good health

    The exam is conducted in 3 phases :-

    PRELIMINARY
    MAINS
    INTERVIEW

    Paper will be of Both objective as well as subjective

    Eligibility Criteria to become an IPS Officer :

    A bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university and final year pursuing candidates are also eligible to apply for this exam

    Age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and relaxation in upper age would be provided as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates

    Physical and Medical Standards required for this post :

    Hight - Male - 165 cm and 160 cm for ST category candidates

    Hight - Female - 150 cm and 145 cm for ST category candidates

    Chest -Male - 84 cm and 5 cm of expansion

    Chest - Female - 79 cm and 5 cm of expansion

    Eye Sight - Near vision should be - 6/6 or 6/9 for good eye and 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye and J 1 distant vision for good eye and J 2 distant vision for worst eye and no color blindness

    IPS Exam Eligibility

    • You must be at least 21 years of age at the time of filling the Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam form and not more than 30 years of age (various relaxations are available for different categories).
    • You must possess a graduate degree in any discipline of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.
    • Candidates who are in the final semester or have taken their final degree exam but are awaiting the results can also appear for the IAS and IPS Preliminary examination provided they furnish their proof of degree while filling the Mains form.
    Special requirement for IPS and IAS:
    For these two services a candidate MUST be a citizen of India. Whereas for other services the citizens of Nepal, Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee who migrated to India after 1st January 1962, or persons of Indian origin from the countries mentioned in the notification can also apply.


    Special Physical Requirements for IPS

    As mentioned earlier candidates appearing for the personality test on clearing the civil services mains exam have to meet certain physical requirements to be eligible for IPS.

    I.P.S -- INDIAN POLICE SERVICES

    The minimum age must be 21 years

    Maximum age is allowed up to 30 years

    Of course there will be age relaxation for the reserved candidates

    And YOU MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF GRADUATION

    Graduation may be of Any stream

    And you must be an Indian Citizen
