    IAS exam is also known as CSAT exam which is conducted by UPSC once in a year.
    Yes you are definitely eligible for CSAT exam. there are full eligibility criteria is given below.

    Eligibility Criteria For CSAT exam

    Candidate should be graduate in any stream from recognized university.
    final year candidate are also eligible for this exam.

    Age Limit for general candidate is 21 to 30 year.
    3year age relaxation for OBC candidate and 5 year age relaxation for SC/ST candidate.

    Nationality should be Indian

    Attempt limit
    For General candidate- 4 attempt
    OBC- 7 Attempt
    SC/ST - no limit

    you can become the IAS officer after complete the graduationin mechanical engineering.

    For the civil service exam required the candidate must havecompleted the graduation in any stream from the approved university.

    The age limit for the exam is the 21 years to 30years.

    Civil Services Examination is conducted by UPSC every year for the recruitment of candidates for the post of IAS.

    There is no specific qualification to become IAS officer...u just need to be graduated in any stream....


    The required work to be done to become IAS officer is to clear prelims ,mains exams and interview conducted by UPSC

    If you have completed your Bachelor of Engineering Degree then you are eligible to apply for IAS Officer exam because UPSC board required only any discipline degree to apply for IAS Exam and age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and relaxation in upper age as per government guidelines only for Reserved category candidates which is - 5 years for SC/ST and Ex-Servicemen Candidates, 3 years for OBC and 10 years for PWD Category candidates and relaxation in upper age for widow, separated, divorced female candidates as per government guidelines.

    You have enough qualification and you can apply for IAS Officer exam through UPSC board and the dates are following for upcoming IAS officer exam 2013 :

    Civil Services Preliminary Exam :

    Application Start Date - 02-02-2013

    Application Last Date - 04-03-2013

    Preliminary Exam Date - 19-05-2013 - Two papers would be conducted in one day

    So there are only 5 months left to prepare for IAS exam and you can prepare well for preliminary exam so that you should join any coaching institute and start your preparation for IAS exam and i have attached the complete syllabus for this exam so please download all the files and prepare well for this exam.

    You can become an IAS Officer after clearing the Civil Services Exams(CSE) having completed you B.E.(Mechanical).
    UPSC condusts the CSE every year to make recruitments to various posts like IAS,IPS,IFS,etc.
    Through UPSC CSE recruitments are made to a total of
    24 posts/services.
    It is one of the most
    competitive and toughest exam at the All India Level.

    Eligibility for CSE :

    Age Limit :
    General Category-21-30yrs on 1st August of the year of exam
    OBC-21-33yrs

    IAS stands for the Indian Administrative officer.In order to become an IAS officer ,first of all you need to become eligible for the civil services examinations and the eligibility for it is as follows:

    You need to have bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university.If you are in final year of graduation then also you will be eligible to apply for the examinations.

    The minimum age limit for the candidates of any category is 21 years.The upper age limit depends upon the category to which you belong:

    >>>General:30 years

    >>OBC:33 years

    >>SC/ST :35 years

    >>You must be an Indian Citizen.

    You can pass 12th with science or arts or commerce; in all the cases you can apply for the exam after completing graduation.

    Also, there is no percentage restriction in this exam.

    You pass the qualifying exam with any percentage of marks, you are eligible for this exam.

    The main qulification of make an IAS officer is complite greduation on any govt. approved university.
    And oter qulification is your age
    For Gen. is 21 to 30
    For obc is 21 to 33
    For sc/st is 21 to 35.

    It's complite in three procedure
    1) Priliming Exam
    2) Main exam
    3) Interview

    And if you clear that then you make an IAS officer.

    YOU ARE VERY MUCH APPLICABLE FOR IAS EXAMS WITH B.E IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING.

    The criteria for applying in the IAS is follows

    1)minimum qualification-graduation degree with any stream from any recognized university,there is no percentage bar.
    2)age limits-21 to 30 years for GC
    21-33 years for OBC
    21-35 years for sc/st and ex-government serviceman.
    21-40 years for physically challenged
    3)number of attempts-4 for general candidate
    7-for OBC
    unlimited for-sc/st.

    As per the criteria you are very much applicable.

    Eligibility for IAS:

    You must complete the graduation from any recognized university.

    And your age should in between 21-30 years.

    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IAS:

    To crack the exam, the preparation requires the right approach along with the right study materials and strategy. The preparation requires focused study rather than plain hard work.

    You can read guide books like General Studies Manual, Indian Politics by Lakshmikanth, Ancient History by D.D.Kausambiís, R.S.Agarwal [Arithmetic], Wren & Martin [English Grammar], Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation by Arun Sharma, etc.

    You may even study journals and even watch television for important news reports. Reading English newspapers will also help the students to get a good hold on the English language. Always keep the syllabus and past five years question papers.
