concentrate on your b.tech first then start preparing for civil services exam
now since u are a science stream student, u need to put in some extra efforts. prepare for those subjects in which u feel they are scoring like history, geography etc. improve your mathematical solving.
The competition level in present day competitive exam is indeed throat cutting. To get through any exam you need meticulous planning, undying best possible effort on your part, belive in God and yourself. I suggest you to start with basics for UPSC CSE... Not much idea with SSC CGL... Good luck.
you have to start ur preparation from 2nd year because the syllabus deals from the 2nd year but dont worry preparation must goes on solve the model paper
