    What is the syllabus for IPS exam? When and where can we get the application forms for the same?

    hai dear friends, my name is c.mohanraj now i am a final year student in b,sc(computer sciene).
    i want to join in IPS. so i have a two important questions about my career. the first one is 1)what are important syllabls are may be contained in the IPS exams?
    2)when and where was the applications are provided by our govt?
    please answer me friends....

    I provide you IPS syallbus.
    Paper 1.
    YOu can choose any language for this exam.
    aper 2

    General English: This paper is to test the student's English skills. The candidates must have ability to understand complicated prose and express their ideas in clear and grammatically correct manner. This test will include comprehension, usage and vocabulary, précis writing, and a short essay in English. This paper will be up to matriculation level standard of English.
    Paper 3

    Essay: Candidates are required to write an essay on any given topic. The candidates will be given a number of topics to choose. Candidates are required to practice writing comprehensive, factually correct and relevant essays. The candidate must maintain regular flow in the tone of the essay and ensure that it doesn’t have any grammatical or spelling mistakes.
    Paper 4

    General Studies I: Candidates need to study about history and culture of India culture, Indian geography, constitution, polity, current issues and social relevance topics.
    Paper 5

    General Studies II: This exam is to test the general knowledge and awareness of the candidates. It will include questions about
    • India and the World: This will test your knowledge about India in context of the entire world. You must study about foreign affairs related to our neighbouring countries and South East Asia region. Matters related to country’s security and defence, nuclear policy and the contribution of Indians around the world.
    • India’s Economic Interaction with the World: Study about India’s foreign trade, policies relating to foreign investment, countries economy and issues related to fuel and energy. The candidate must also have knowledge about WTO, IMF, WIPO, World Bank etc.
    • Developments in the Field of Science & Technology, IT and space: The candidate should gain knowledge about issues related to science, technology, IT, space, nanotechnology, biotechnology etc.
    • International Affairs and International Institutions: The candidate must have a firm knowledge about these.
    • Statistical analysis, graphs and diagrams: The candidate should have the skills to read and understand graphs, statistics and diagrams. He should be able draw conclusion from them.
    Paper 6 and 7

    Optional Subjects- These two exams test candidate’s aptitude towards the first optional subject chosen by him. Candidates have to choose an optional subject. The choice of subject depends on the type of job they are applying for.
    Paper 8 and 9

    Optional Subjects- These two exams test candidate’s aptitude towards the second optional subject chosen by him. Candidates have to choose an optional subject. The choice of subject depends on the type of job they are applying for.

    Dear Mohanraj,
    Indian Police service is one of the Prestigious and Respectable job in India.The IPS exam has 3 sections

    1) Preliminary exam
    2) Main exam
    3) Personal Interview

    In Preliminary Exam you have 2 papers
    Paper 1 is General Studies paper consists of Geography, Indian Economics, Politics and day to day issues
    Paper 2 is Optional Subject i.e. your specialised subject

    In Main Exam you have 9 papers
    Paper 1 is the language test means based on your selected language there will be a test , they will check the your vocabulary, usage etc

    Paper 2 is General English

    Paper 3 is Essay Writing

    Paper 4 is General Studies about history, Culture of India , Indian Geography, Politics , Current issues

    Paper 5 is General Studies includes India and the world,Indian economics ,Developments in Science & Technology, International affairs

    Paper 6, 7 ,8 and 9 are the optional subjects chosen by you

    Interview

    After clearing all the exams they will call for interview.They will check your Personality and Physical Capability , Mental Strength

    IPS exam stands for Indian police Services which is conducted by UPSC.

    This year Last dates of application of IPS exam is over.

    Important Dates;-

    Preliminary exam ;-26th May 2013

    Mains exam;-1th Dec 2013

    You have to wait for Next year Notification.

    Notification is given on Official Website;-http://upsc.gov.in

    You can apply This exam on-line http://upsconline.nic.in

    Exam Eligibility;-

    1-You must be passed a graduate degree from a Indian recognized university
    2-There is no percentage requirement
    3-Appearing in final year candidates are also eligible.
    Age limits;-

    General age limits is 21-30 years. Age relaxation is given reserved category students.

    Age relaxation;---

    3 years age relaxation for OBC category
    5 years age relaxation for SC/ST category
    10 years for PH candidates

    Selection Process;-

    Civil services Preliminary exam

    Civil Services Mains exam

    Interview

    IPS falls under one of the the category of CSE Exam... for that you have to clear CSE first.. and then you can opt for IPS out of IAS/IRS/IFS etc.

    As the dates for filling the application forms are over.. so you have to wait for the next year

    Mains exam-1th Dec 2013


    So, you will have to check www.upsc.gov.in for the next year notification.. just regularly update yourself by checking it.
