The question of prelim exam of upsc will be asked in the basis of 10 class level. You will be asked the questions of General Studies. In this general studies you have to give the answer of G.K., G.S. i.e. General Science, English etc. This exam question is objective type question. You have to face two objective type question papers. Each question paper is of 200 marks. Means the total upsc prelim exam is of 400 marks.

The UPSC conducts the CSAT examination every year. As per the new rules, there are two compulsory papers, i.e., General Studies and English. The questions are objective multiple type questions. There is 200 marks of each paper. To know more details of it please visit www.upsc.gov.in Thanks.....
According to the new pattern, all candidates have to attend both paper 1 and paper2 compulsorily. Paper 1 is general studies which includes the following subjects
1)Indian History
2) Indian Geography
3)Economy
4) Indian Polity
5) Basic science
6) Current events of national and international importance
Paper 1 comprises 100 questions of objective type, with negative marking .
While paper 2 is CSAT ie civil services aptitude test. It comprises 80 questions on topics like
1) English language skills
2)comprehension skills
3) Reasoning
4)Quantitative aptitude
From 2011 UPSC prelims exams which is now know as CSAT-civil services aptitute test
This exam will have two papers which is common for all the candidates who appear in the tests
These papers will be of 200 marks each
total time given for each paper is 120 minutes
both the papers will be in objective mode only
Paper 1- General studies
paper 2-comprehension, logical reasoning, decision making and problem solving, general mental abilty,basic numeracy and english

according to new rules of UPSC now Civil Services Prelims exam is called CSAT(Civil Services Aptitude test).
in CSAT two papers are included of each 200 marks each paper.
For CSAT General Studies and English, logical reasoning are compulsory. both the papers are of objective type. and there is two hours of time bound for each paper.
Marks you got in CSAT will not carries to next round i.e. Mains. It is just a selection process for mains exam.
