    Hello,

IPS is categorised as technical service among civil services and requires high degree of physical fitness. The training process is rigorous and requires officers in good physical shape. The knee-knock persons are not considered for IPS. But, you can give civil services exam for other non-technical services which include even IAS.

    Thanks,
    goyalk

UPSC board decided a fixed physical standard for all aspirant and if the candidate does not comes on the level of that physical standards so that he/she would not be eligible for IPS post and which is following

Physical Standards for IPS - Indian Police Service Officers :

Hight Male - 165 cm for general male and 5 cm relaxation for ST category candidates

Hight Female - 150 cm for general female and 5 cm relaxation for ST category female candidates

Chest Male - 84 cm and should have 5 cm expansion in the test during the test

Chest Female - 9 cm and should have 5 cm expansion in the test during the test

Eye Sight - For Good eye it should be - 6/6 or 6/9 and for worst eye it is about - 6/12 or 6/9

Ear - There should be good listening and normal ear cavity and 1000-4000 frequency and hearing impairment should not be more than 30 decibels

Nasal - Any of the male or female candidate should not stammer while speaking

Female - Ladies should not be pregnant while the physical or medical test

If you have above mentioned physical standards then you may easily qualify this step

You should have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university and age should be between 21-30 years to apply for this exam and final year pursuing candidates are also eligible to apply for this exam and relaxation in upper age as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC.

    All the best
