Yes, why not you can prepare for IES(Indian Engineering Services) exam while doing ME from Pune University. For Preparation you are required to focus on basic concepts of your core subjects. and Study with concentration.And make sure that it will not affect your degree course. because both degree and Preparation for IES are important. if you can manage then you must go ahead else wait for completion of degree. while preparation you are required to solve previous year papers also. which will give you confidence and it is also important part of preparation.


for IES you must have engineering degree in any Branch from recognized college or university with any percentage. Final year Engineering candidates are also eligible to write exam.

you are required to give the papers by choosing any one of the following four streams.

1. Civil Engineering

4. Mechanical Engineering

As your branch Mechanical Engineering is also listed so you can apply for IES exam with your core branch.

for IES your age must be within 21 years to 30 years . there is relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

Yes you are eligible for applying for IES exam if you are in final year or after completing your engineering degree.IES exams is conducted by UPSC for selection of engineers in Group A or Group B services in different fields of engineering like Mechanical Engineering,Civil Engineering,Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering and Electrical Engineering

But keep in minds that minimum of 21 years of age and maximum of 30 years of age has been fixed.However upper age limit has been relaxed by 3 years for OBCs and 5 years for SC/ST.The number of attempts is also four for general category ,seven for OBCs and unlimited for SC/ST.
