Re: Will there be any benefit for engineering graduates in UPSC or Civil Service Exams? Is it true that engineering students need to clear only one round of civil services selection exam? Dear Student, ~Whatever you have heard about the favour that a Engineering student is given in the Civil Service Exams conducted by the UPSC is just a myth. ~The UPSC treats all graduates among equals in this examination.Your BTech degree is just another degree equivalent to Graduation. So there are no chances of even getting a slightly partiality in your favour. ~Even the fact that an Engineering Student has to appear only one part of the examination is a rumour. It involves no truth. You will have to appear for all parts of the exams and qualify them if you are looking ahead to join through civil Services. ~ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THIS EXAM IS :: # You must be a citizen of India, or,You must be a subject of Bhutan or Nepal, or,You must be a Tibetan refugee settled in India, permanently, before 1962. # You must be 21 to 30 years of age. However, the OBC Candidates are entitled to relaxation of 3 yrs and a SC/ST Candidate of 5 years in the upper age limit. # You must hold a degree of Graduation OR EQUIVALENT,from a recognized board, under any stream,or be a final year student in the same. ~~Now take note that the only benefit you might have as an ENGINEERING STUDENT,IS YOUR KNOWLEDGE.However,I would advice you to prefer Arts subjects in your Mains exams as they have a very high success rate, and are also scoring. ~~Solve a lot of model papers, and improve your writing skills to infinity. ~~For more details, visit the official website of the UPSC: www.upsc.gov.in Good Luck!!

Re: Will there be any benefit for engineering graduates in UPSC or Civil Service Exams? Is it true that engineering students need to clear only one round of civil services selection exam? Hi Ashish, There are no such benefits for engineering students, in fact, the recent trend of upsc is to make the exams a level playing field, so that talent from a wide pool of streams enters civil services. The only benefit I see as being an engineering student is your degree from engineering, which is essential to take the exams(you can also take your exams if you are in your final year).
