Re: Should I Prepare for IES or GATE exam after completing B.E? Dear pal, After engineering one is left with two wide option either to do masters in Engineering or go for work either in public sector or private companies .To do masters in engineering one need to appear in GATE exam that is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology . The exam is held every year and the score is valid for two years. GATE is conducted in all the engineering disciplines . The syllabus for the exam is same as the subjects that are dealt in bachelor degree in engineering If you prefer to do Service then prepare for the Indian engineering service qualifying which one is eligible to do job in various engineering jobs available under central government . The screening process includes main exam which includes two papers namely objective and descriptive type qualifying which one need to appear in the personnel interview.

Re: Should I Prepare for IES or GATE exam after completing B.E? I will suggest you that prepare for GATE examination as it is much easier than IES examination. By scoring good score in GATE you have the chances for M-TECH through NIT's,IIT's besides that other psu's, many govt. organisation considers GATE score for the qualification. only you have to appear for a objective paper for 2 hours. WHILE In IES there is general ability section is also besides that technical paper which means that you need to study arts field's also.
Re: Should I Prepare for IES or GATE exam after completing B.E? If you want to do the master degree in IIT or NIT then and then you should prepare for the GATE exam but if you want the government job then you can go to the IES exam . In both exam the syllabus is same so you prepare for the both exam also and you can apply for the both exam also , so first decide what you want to do the job or master degree then prepare for the exam . All the Best
