The choice of your's for opting arts is absolutely the very correct,in the IAS,IPS you will have to study subjects which is the subjects combination of arts.IAS stands for INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES and here you will be asked to learn everything about Indian culture and society, like history of India, constitution etc.now you must understand that arts is thestream which provides you with such combination. And the most important thing is that you willget a chance to study English if you go for arts stream. Now english is a very important subject in the IAS,there are usually many questions related to English skills and reasoning. So it is a good idea to go with arts. There are basically three stages of IAS competitive exam1)preliminary2)main3)InterviewEach one is a knock out.after you complete your graduation, you are applicable for the IAS exams,no percentage bar here.age limit-21 to 30 years for GC,21-33 years for OBC,21-35 years for SC/STnumber of attempts-4 for GC,7-for OBC,unlimited-sc/stmore information visithttp://www.upsc.gov.in

To become an IAS Officer you have to clear the prestigious Civil Services Exams(CSE).
UPSC condusts the CSE every year to make recruitments to various posts like IAS,IPS,IFS,etc.
Through UPSC CSE recruitments are made to a total of 24 posts/services.

UPSC CSE is conducted in 3 stages :

-CSAT/Prelims Exam-is conducted to shorlist candidates for Mains exam.
It consists of 2 papers of General Studies of 200 marks each.

-Mains Exam-is conducted to test the indepth knoweledge and intellect of the candidates.
It consists of 9 papers of total weightage 2000 marks.Choice of 2 optional subjects has to be made
and 2 papers of each subject prepared for the Mains exams.

-Interviews-is the test of personality of candidates and is of total 300 marks. It is the final stage of selection
and after securing a good rank in the Merit list you will be selected for IAS Officer post.

    Eligibility for CSE :

    Age Limit :
General Category-21-30yrs on 1st August of the year of exam
    OBC-21-33yrs
    SC/ST-21-35yrs

    Educational Qualification :
Minimum educational qualification is graduation in any discipline from a UGC recognised University.

So its alright if you opt for arts after your 12th Boards as most part of the syllabus in Prelims/CSAT exam are related
to arts subjects like economics, sociology, geography, political science, etc. Then you will save time on preparing for prelims and
devote the same time to prepare for mains exams which is every subjective & vast and also requires indepth knoweledge of topics.
It will become easier for you to prepare for CSE by taking arts in a way.

    Attempts :
    General Category-4 times
    OBC-7 times
    SC/ST-Unlimited times
