There is a process to choose optionals. You must follow it to get the best ones for YOU. Firstly, strike out the subjects from the complete list that you think you can't take in any circumstances. Secondly, go through the syllabus of each of remaining subjects and select the ones that you think you can manage. Thirdly, ask your more than one seniors who have actually given the exam with those subjects. Finally, make the decision about the subjects.

Mind it, the final decision will be yours and it must be based more on your interest in the subject, availability of good study material, availability of good tutor/guide in case you need some help during your preparation. Don't go by the experience of a single person. If you have right frame of mind, right approach, you can crack UPSC with any subject of YOUR choice.

Among Sociology and Psychology, I have no favourites. Marks are very low in Psychology II paper these days. Many students changed their Psychology optional in 2011 and they migrated to subjects like Sociology. But, the condition of Sociology is not very good either. Having said that, people also got very high marks in both Sociology and Psychology. So, a lot depends on the approach to preparation rather than subjects per se. One more thing about Psychology that all the 28 chapters are intertwined. These days a single question may ask concepts from many chapters. So a lot of synthesis goes into generating an answer. Also, you have to remember studies and name of Psychologists for every concept you write in exam. Also, your answer should be in current context. So, these many demands make Psychology a little bit difficult to handle.
But, if you can manage these points, you can take it.

I am engineering student .I selected my first subject "Public Administration"
But i am getting confused to selection my subject between "Sociology" And
"Psychology".

And i would like that my prime 2 selected subject would be my main exam subjects.

Kindly do needful help.
