Yes,dear I appreciate your thinking about preparation of upsc examinations from the 1st year of your graduation becuase these examinations are very tough as the seats are limited and no of candidates are very large.

In the limited seats there are reservation also.

I would like to suggest you to join any of the following institutes during your free time:

    >>IAS study center.

    >>Time

    >>Paradigm ias academy.

You should labour at least two hours per day .

You must go through the previous years question papers.

    Note;

    Kindly go through the

    >>NCERT books

    Hi Friend!

Of course, you're free to start the preparation in the first year of B.A.

Actually you should start it in the first year itself, so that by the time you reach your final year it'd be easy for you to write.

You better prepare for the most prestigious exam Civil Service Exam(CSE).

Re: Can I start preparation for UPSC exams from first year of B.A(Psychology)?

    Hi Friend!

Yes, You can and you should start preparing for the UPSC exams from the first year itself.

It becomes more easy for you.

The qualification for the Civil Service is Graduation(Degree).
Coming to the Preliminary exam, it consists of General Science and Aptitudes.
And the syllabus for the Preliminary is cover everything intermediate level like GK,Biology, everything.

And the syllabus for the Mains is to select two subjects out of 25 subjects but a combo of same stream is avoided like (Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering).
And an Indian language out of 26 languages.

I'd suggest you to go through newspapers, history(Indian), Geography(India) And the problems arising in your state.
And reading the newspapers is just not the thing, you'd analyse the facts and analyse every stuff you go through.
The main important thing is to prepare notes of it. It helps you to reckon everything when you just have glance at it.

And preparing the notes is very good job because you'll never find anything in any book about certain topic which you surely find in dailies.
Go through two languages of dailies (one, perhaps English and second, your language).

And section of subjects for Mains depends on what course you do in your graduation.
After deciding the course, then go should go through previous year papers.

And you can also join a institute just 2years before writing the preliminary exam.

You should create your own time-table because proper planning and execution is more important for success.

More and more rehearsals are also important!

    dear candidate:
yes,why not it is infact best time to you start preparing for the upsc as you have exactly 3 years to completely depend your knowledge in subjects of two optionals of main.

infact you can choose two of them from your curriculam itself.

    • Basically the exam includes aptitude test followed by main exam on various papers. For aptitude you require little preparation when compared to the main exam.
    • Main exam includes different subject which includes nine papers. So you need to do prepare a lot for the exam refering to number of books

If you are really want to clear the exam as the exam needs a almost 15 hours

Of daily scheduled if you want to clear the exam

And for the exam if you are preparing the exam then you need to focus

More on the two optional subject as the

optional subjects that you are going to choose

And make a time table and work according to the time table

And read daily news paper and read lucent gk book

As gk is the compulsory subject so you have to study gk

    Dear pal,
    • There is nothing like a fixed time for starting your preparation for the exam. First you need to fix your target or Aim. And put the necessary effort for achieving the target.
    • Chasing the target only will make you achieve it. If you are interested in UPSC exam then you can start your preparation right from the first year of your degree.
    • There are students who start their preparation after the completion of 2 exam. You need to make preparation in many subjects so require more time for there subjects.
    • Basically the exam includes aptitude test followed by main exam on various papers. For aptitude you require little preparation when compared to the main exam.
    • Main exam includes different subject which includes nine papers. So you need to do prepare a lot for the exam refering to number of books .

Re: Can I start preparation for UPSC exams from first year of B.A(Psychology)?

It is good that you decided that you want to give an UPSC exam .
Currently you are in the first year so that you have lots of time for the preparation point of view .
The UPSC exam have three parts .
    1) Preliminary exam
    2) Main exam
    3) Interview
The final selection based on tthe marks secured in main exam plus interview .
Preliminary exam is just for qualifying for the next round .
In preliminary exam there are two papers for general studies .
First of all see the exam pattern for the exam in the upsc site and choose the subject .
For the preliminary exam , just read the social science book of std 5-12 of cbse , manorama year book .
