Hello It is very important as there is entire paper based on the current affairs,in any UPSC exams there is a paper called general knowledge which means the knowledge and the affairs that have occcured currently.Now you must understand why it is important to keep yourself intact with the current affairs happening around the globe as the paper you will give in the UPSC exams will have only general knowledge in it. Hence,it will be better if you study the current affairs,it is a very important aspect in the competitive exams.
