It is the prestigious post in India after IAS.

To become IPS officer, one has to give the civil services exam.

To give civil services exam, any degree from recognized University is necessary.

There is no specific degree, you only need a degree irrespective of the stream from recognized University to give this exam.

Candidate must have attained minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years for general category.

There is upper age relaxation as follows for reserved category candidates.

The minimum age limit is 21 years and maximum is 33 years for OBC Category.

The minimum age limit is 21 years and maximum is 35 years for SC/ST Category.

    Exam pattern is as follows:

    Preliminary exam

    Mains

    Interview

Physical requirement is as follows for IPS Officer:

    • I really appreciate your Aim to become an IPS officer.
    • But still for that you are underqualified. In other words, your's educational qualification of class 12th would not be sufficient enough to appear in the civil services exam to become IPS officer.
    • The minimum qualification as determined by upsc is graduation in any stream.
    • so you are required to complete graduation in any stream from an recognised university.
    • Your age for this examination must be in between the 21 years to 30 years
    • Yes, there is an provision of age relaxations to selected category.

    Hey friend,

IPS stands for Indian Police Service

This exam is being conducted by UPSC and is held every year. This exam is known as Indian Civil Service Exam.

There are eligibility criteria's which are framed for the exam and as regarding them you are ineligible for the IPS Exam as you don't satisfy the education qualification needed for the exam

The education qualification needed for the exam is that the candidate must have completed a degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a fair percentage

As you have only completed your +2 you are ineligible at this stage when regarding the education qualification.

You will also be ineligible when regarding the age limits as the age limit needed is 21-30 years.

So,it is better that you continue your studies and then finish a degree in any discipline and then apply for the IPS Exam

Re: How to Become an IPS officer after passing class 12th?

    Dear pal,
    • You have a long way to go to become a Indian police officier. After 2 you are not eligible for the exam you need to complete your higher studies for yourself to be eligible for the exam.
    • If your ambition is to join indian police service them you can choose a three year bachelor degree rather than a four year degree program. As the exam is not much related to any degree discipline.
    • A good number of discipline is available both in science and commerce stream. Doing it will make you eligible for the exam a year before.
    • You can apply in your final year also. The selection process for the service includes civil service common aptitude followed by main exam and personnel interview.
    • Those who wish to join police service need to undergo physical selection in addition to the above. Where they will be tested their physical skill to run fixed distance in less time, high jump , long jump, climbing rope etc. Training session is independent of it

there is no problem of taking any field of your interest of your choice in graduation civil service examination opens for all cateogory ,any stream. person can choose any other streams subject for the elective subjects from the list specified by UPSC.

    but

there is limited attempts for the exam

but i personally advice you do you graduation in arts field as it cover vast syllabus of preliminary of civil services irrespective to the other streams.
