Re: What is the procedure to become an IAS/IPS officer? to become an ips/ias officer the aspirant should be graduate in any stream form a recognized institute and the age of the applicant should be between 21-30 if general category ,21-33 years if obc,21-35 years if sc/st. to become an ips/ias officer you first have to apply for civil services exam conducted by upsc .you can apply for it by buying the form from the head post office and then filling it or you can apply for this exam through internet by logging on to the site www.onlineupsc.nic.in where you can fill the form following the instruction given there. the notification form this exam is released by upsc in feb or march. it need hard work and a lot of determination to crack this exam.

To become a IAS/IPS then , you have to qualified from Civil Service Examination . Civil Service Examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Once in a year for recruitment of IPS , IFS , IAS , Revenue , Central Excise , Customs Services . Stage of this examination :- -Prelims (CSAT) -Main Examination -Personal Interview Nationality :- Aspirant must be either :- ~~a Citizen of India OR ~~a Subject of Bhutan OR ~~a Subject of Nepal OR ~~a Tibetan refugee settled permanently in India , before 1962. Age limits :- ~~Age should not more than 30 years and not less than 21 years and Upper age limits is applicable . Upper age limits :- ~~3 years relaxation for OBC candidates . ~~5 years relaxation for SC/ST candidates . ~~5 years relaxation for Ex-Servicemen candidates . Education Qualification :- ~~You should have a hold bachelor's degree in any recognized Institution OR equivalent qualification and Final year candidates may also eligible . ~~Only pass marks is enough to appear for IAS / IPS exams . ~~There is no percentage bar required . Number of attempts :- ~~General candidates :- 4 attempts . ~~OBC candidates :- 7 attempts . ~~No limits :- SC/ST candidates . Candidate must be physically and mentally fit while appearing for IAS / IPS examination . This year prelims exam was already completed on 20/05/12 . The eligibility for the exam is below : -> one should done their graduation from any recognized university -> A final year student can also eligible for applying the exam , but before the main exam one have to complete the graduation . -> age limit is 21-30 for general cast , 3 years relaxion for obc , 5 years relaxion for sc/st/ex-serviceman , 10 years relaxion for physically handicapped . -> maximum 4 attempts are allowed for the general cast , 7 for obc cast and no limit for the no of attempts for the sc/st cast . The exam pattern is below : The exam pattern consist three parts . 1) preliminary exam 2) main exam 3) interview Preliminary exam consist two papers 1.General Study 2.Optional subject and one should pass this exam for qualifying for the next round . Main exam consists 9 descriptive type paper 1-Any language defined in constitution of India 2-english 3-essay 4-general study 5-general study 6-optional subject-1 7-optional subject-1 8-optional subject-2 9-optional subject-2 The first two papers marks are not considered but one should pass this two paper compulsory . so start the preparation for the exam and give it . good luck

Dear, if you want to become an ias/ips officer than you have to appear in the civil services examination which conducted by upsc every year once . The notification for the examination is released in the month of february and the exam is held in the month of may/ june . Eligibility criteria:- 1. You must be an indian citizen . 2. You must be a graduate from a govt.recognized university . the exams is conducted in three steps 1. Prelims 2. Mains . 3. Interview after all the three steps of the exam you will be awarded the no. Out of 2000. And the shortlisted candidates get a call letter for the job.

Dear pal, Before thinking of the procedure for applying for Indian Administrative and police service you need to satisfy certain requirement which includes bachelor degree in any discipline. In addition to that one need to have completed 21 years of age so that you have satisfied the age criteria for the exam. Following which you need to apply for the exam which can be made online or offline. Offline application is available in the post offices against a cash of rupees 30. If you wish you can apply online in the website www.upsconline.nic.in . The screening process for the entrance exam includes Common aptitude exam followed by Main exam and personnel interview . The aptitude exam includes two papers qualifying which you are eligible for main exam which includes 9 papers of which 4 papers are optional and others are compulsory. Clearing the exam you will be called for personnel interview. The total of main exam and personnel interview is calculated and a rank list is provided based on which admission is provided.
