General studies, CSAT in prelims are compulsory. for mains general studies, english language, essay are compulsory

Tips :

you can start for UPSC by study 6th to 12th NCERT books.
read books on History ,increase your general knowledge, continuous reading news papers and magazines. concentrate on English.
solving Previous year question papers is most requisite part of preparation.

there is no compulsory subjects. you have to choose 2 subjects from the option.
based on your knowledge and interest you can choose any 2.
there are 25 subjects in the options.
these optional subjects are only in main exam not in prelims.
you must clear prelims to write main exam
prelims has
english
gk
reasoning
aptitude
