Dear friend,

yes you can apply both the exams in the same year and write both of them in the same year.both dont have any connection with each other.your scoring will not affect because you are appearing both the exams in the same year.

so need to worry about your scoring.

but the issue is preparation part.civil services needs lot of time for preparation.if you can manage to prepare both the subjects then you can appear with out any prejudice in mind.

appearing is not important.for whatever exams you fill the form prepare well first and then appear.otherwise it will be useless.

so if you have enough time in hand just prepare well both the papers thoroughly and appear so that you can qualify in atleast one.

First of all you have to go through the Question Pattern for which exam you want to appear. You can download and print Previous Years Question Papers at www.upsc.gov.in

NCERT books are best for the basic knowledge because it covers full syllabus of UPSC.

You can also practice more and more MODEL Question Papers from a sample paper by which you can experience to the Questions coming in UPSC exams.

You cannot apply two posts in one year for the same exams

I m in T.Y.B.TECH and i am about to start with upsc preparations.
but before that i need guidance.
so, i want to know if i can appear for combined defence services exam and civil services exam in the same year?
if yes,will that affect scoring in any particular exam?
i want to give both the exams and that too in same year. Is it possible?
please reply rather guide me soon so that i can start preparations as early as possible.
