There is no codes for the Optional Subjects of UPSC Civil Service Prelims examination because the pattern was changed on 2011 and now follow the new Pattern of Prelims examination . Now Prelims examination is called as CSAT (Civil Service Aptitude Test ) .

CSAT Consist of two papers and both the papers are objective type questions . Each paper consist of two marks and duration of each papers is 2 hrs .

Paper - I : 200 Marks- 2 Hours

-Current Events of National and International Importance
-History of India and Indian National Movement
-Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the world
-Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues
-Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives
-General Issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change
-General Science

Paper II: 200 marks - 2 Hours

-Comprehension
-Interpersonal skills including communication skills
-Logical reasoning and analytical ability
-Decision-making and problem solving
-General mental ability
-Basic numeracy (Class X level)
-English language comprehension (Class X level)

-With the NEW PATTERN of CIVIL SERVICE EXAMS being effective from 2011 onwards,Now you don't have to choose any optional subjects for the PRELIMINARY EXAMS.The Preliminary exams consists of two compulsory papers which are the same for all the candidates.
-You have to Choose TWO subjects for the MAINS now,and these subjects carry as much as 1200 MARKS.
