i really want to suggest
you something, you should
first decide what you really
want to be and do in your
life. being an IAS officer
and IES officer are two
totally paths, So 1st choose
wisely what you want to
be. as both IES and IAS
exams are quite tough to
crack. you probably should
concentrate on one. since
you are an engineering
student IES is a better
option for you. and while
preparing for IES you will
be also building concepts
for GATE exam. so just
concentrate on one thing.
and as far as IAS is
concerned, one has to
have good historical
knowlledge, grasp of
political science and
constitution of india, one
regional language and
compulsary english ..so it
will be quite hard..but if
you think you can still
crack IAS just complete
your engineering and join
some good coaching
institute for IAS. that will
be the best idea.... gud

Dear friends,
Since you are preparing for gate then you cant prepare for IAS because both are different fields and no any subject of computer science in upsc. So, you should choose one of them but both are better.

dear friend i really recommend you to focus on one exam at one time.
and if you want to really prepare for all the three exams IAS, GATE and IES.

first and most important Manage your Time table and maintain your self calm and Cool.

then choose technical optional subjects for IAS and IES. it would be helpful for you for gate also. and study of these subjects throughout .

increase your general knowledge, continuous reading news papers and magazines, concentrate on English. solving Previous year question papers is most requisite part of preparation. Good Luck.........

Hi Aspirant

upsc means Union Public Service Exam

And for the upsc exam you have to give the civil service exam

And upsc is conducting the exam every year

Here is the format:

Pre exam
Mains Exam
Final Interview

And then on merit basis posts will be given to the selected candidates

And as my friend you are doing right now your b.tech

Also preparing for competition exam like gate

So my friend you can start preparation for the upsc exam

But first choose your optional subjects and then work on the optional subjects

Very hard and hard as it will really help you

And also work on the compulsory subjects like english and gk

So read daily news paper and try to increase your english word power

the syllabus of GATE, IES & that of IAS is completely different bcoz no technical questions are asked in IAS. Similarity between IAS & IES ais general studies.

FIRST OF ALL SET UR GOAL.
THEN WORK HARD FOR THAT TARGET TO ACHIEVE.
NOW U R IN 3rd YEAR SO CAN PREPARE FOR IES. THERE IS ENOUGH TIME.
IF U CLEARED IES U CAN WORK IN UR TECHNICAL FIELD.

i will advise you to concentrate on GATE and IES or IAS. because these exams are not easy.
and if you want to do then you should select techanical subjects for IAS exam.

Just choose only one with faith in yourself.
Don't get confused.
You will get best career as IAS officer. After all in IES you can get best posts according to your stream ECE.
Though you are in 3rd year B.Tech., you have good opportunity and enough time for cracking IES.

It is good to see you that you are Preparing for IAS

along with the Preparation of GATE and IES,but my

personal opinion or you may take it as a suggestion

that there is no standard yardstick followed it all

depends on your capacity and capability,irrespective

of your performance/score in basic/higher degree

exam.to crack the examination two basic qualities

are required.

First you should be filly mentally prepared to

bear the strain of this one year long exam and

secondly you should have (or develop) a sound

expression (written as well as verbal)in the

medium(language)you want to appear with.Once

you have obtained these two qualities ,other issue

regarding the preparation of the examination can be

handled better and easily.

You can also prepare yourself with the help of

written examination pattern by following the

processes

firstly its very important for you to set your goals on what you want to achieve.UPSC exams are not a cakewalk.They require a lot of dedication.
Anyways sticking to your question I would like to recommend you to pick two of the engineering subjects of yours as the main subjects and read them throughout without any selective study.
Meanwhile also keep preparing for the current affairs,social and general studies.keep pace with them.
Also keep practicing the model papers of all the 3 exams.
But it might be the best to choose your ultimate option and focus on any of them.

Sir, I'm B.tech (ece) third year student. I wish to be an IAS officer. May I start the preparation now itself? But how? I also want to prepare for GATE and also want to write IES exams. I'm a bit confused how to achieve my goal. Please enlighten my path so that I may achieve success.
