Dear Friend,

IRS stands for the Indian Revenue Services.
It is one of the Central Civil Services (Group A).
it consists of two branches:

1.IRS(Customs and central excise) 2.IRS(Income Tax)

There are two streams of Recruitment to IRS:-----------

1st---Direct recruitment is done on the basis of rank secured in civil services examinations.

2nd---Promoted officers are promoted after several years of service.

So there are no separate exams conducted by the UPSC for the IRS
but is the civil services only for the IRS.

Important dates:----------

1...Date of notification:02-02-2013 2...Last date of applying online:04-03-2013 3....Date of examinations:19-05-2013. (Sunday)

Hello,
IRS stands for Indian Revenue Service. The candidates for this post are recruited through Civil Services Examination.

CIVIL SERVICES (Preliminary) EXAM., 2013
Notification Date 02.02.2013
Last date for application 04.03.2013
Date of Exam 19.05.2013

You just have to satisfy the basic eligibility criteria to appear for Civil Services Examination which are as follows:
The candidate must hold any degree in any discipline from any recognized university. Final year degree students are also eligible
The age limit is 21-30 yrs
The maximum number of attempts for General category is 4
The candidate should be Indian
