    Minimum qualification required to beome an IPS officer is graduation.

    IPS - Indian Police Services


    IPS exam is conducted by UPSC every year an it is known as CSAT - Civil Services Aptitude Test.

    Eligibility Criteria for CSAT -

    Qualification-
    Minimum graduation from a recognised university.

    Age -
    Not below 21 years, not above 30 years.

    ( 3 years relaxation for OBC and 5 years relaxation for SC/ST)

    Stages of IPS exam-

    There are three stages to clear �

    1. Civil Services Preliminary Examination ( Objective Type) (Usually conducted
    in May)

    2. Civil Services Main Examination (Written) (Conducted during
    October/November)

    3. Interview and final Selection (During April/May)


    UPSC notifies about the IPS exam in all the leading newspapers.

    IPS means Indian Police Service.
    To become IPS Officer, one has to give the written exam conducted by UPSC.

    The eligibility required is any degree from recognized university with minimum of 21 years and maximum of 30 years for general category.

    There is upper age relaxation for reserved category candidates.

    The maximum age limit for OBC Category is 33 years.

    The maximum age limit for SC/ST Category is 35 years.

    Exam Pattern:

    1. Preliminary exam

    2. Main exam

    3. Interview

    Number of Attempts:

    Four attempts for general, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs

    UPSC Civil services Preliminary exam is on 19-05-2013.

    Date of Notification: 02-02-2013.

    Last date for receipt of application: 04-03-2013.

    The IPS exam or Indian Police Service exam is the civil service exam is conducted by UPSC in every year.
    Educational qualification for IPS:
    The aspirant must posses a degree course in any recognized University of India or an equivalent qualification.
    Those in final year of a degree course is also appear the preliminary exam of IPS.
    Age Requirement:
    1.The general category candidate must have attained the age 21 year on 1st august of the year of examination & must not have attained 30 year of age on that day.
    2.the upper age limit is relaxed by 3 year for OBC candidates & 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
    3.The upper age limit is also relaxed for defence service personnel.
    These are the minimum Qualification & age required for IPS exam.

    Hello friend,

    To become an IPS officer you need to crack civil services exam conducted by UPSC once in a year.
    For this exam you should have Indian citizenship, a graduate degree in any stream and your age should be 21 to 30 years.

    3 years relaxation for OBC candidate and 5 years for SC/ST candidate.

    IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.This exam is conduct through Civil Service Exam .

    Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.

    But your age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate.

    The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

    If you want to apply for this exam then you have full fill below requirements

    Education qualification

    =>You have to complete graduation from the recognized college or University in the any discipline

    Age limit

    The candidates who will reach the age limit of the 21 years then such candidates are eligible for the exam maximum age limit is different for the different category

    GM-30 years

    OBC-35 years

    SC/ST-40 years



    The candidates who full fill the above conditions then such candidates are eligible for the exam.

    The candidates who which to apply for the IPS exam then such candidates must appearr for the CSAT exam.The CSAT exam stands for the -Civil Service Aptitude test

    This is the main exam after the preliminary exam.The preliminary exam is conducted by the Civil service entrance exam.

    You must have a Minimum Qualification of a Degree from a Recognized university

    The Graduation may be of any stream

    You must have a minimum of 21 years

    Maximum age is allowed up to 30 years

    Of course there will be an Age relaxation for the reserved candidates ...

    IPS stands for Indian Police Service. The Age Limit For IPS Exam is mentioned below. You have to apply for Civil Services Examination.
    Civil Services Examination is conducted by UPSC every year for the recruitment of candidates for the post of IAS, IRS, IPS.

    The basic eligibility criteria for Civil Services Exam are as follows:

    First thing is that IPS is not a exam it's a post in Indian Police Services.

    IPS post are filling by the recruitment through UPSC . UPSC conduct a exam which name is CSAT this exam is conducted once in a year. this exam is also known as IAS exam
    After clearing this exam you find the various post on the basis of your merit

    Eligibility For Appearing CSAT exam is

    Age Limit
    Age of the candidate is 21 to 30 year.
    there are relaxation in age for category candidate
    3 year age relaxation for OBC candidate and 5 year for SC/ST candidate

    Candidate must be graduate in any stream from recognized university
    there is no percentage or marks limit in the qualifying exam.

    Nationality- Indian

    Attempt limit
    For General candidate- 4 attempt

    to become an ips officer you have clear upsc civil services exam for which you have to work really hard .
    graduation or engineering with any subjects from a recognized university under ugc is basic eligibility for upsc civil services exam.
    secondly the age should be between
    21-30 for general category
    21-33 for OBC category
    21-35 for SC/ST category

    Civil services examination (for IAS,IPS)

    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA ::

    You must be a citizen ofIndia,or, You must be a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or, You must be a Tibetan

    Refugee settled permanently in India before 1962.

    You must be of 21 to 30 years of age. However, there is a relaxation in the upper age limit, of 3 years

    for the OBC and 5 years for the SC/ST

    You must have completed your Graduation or Equivalent, from a recognized university under any

    stream, or be a final year student in the same

    The number of attempts is 4 for a General category student,7 for an OBC candidate, and

    unlimited for a SC/ST candidate, until he fulfills the age criteria

    for appearing in IPS exam the candidate must have completed graduation or should be a appearing student of final year in a recognized university ....the age of the candidate must be between 21 to 30 years also age relaxation of 3 years is given to those candidates who belong to OBC and age relaxation of 5 years is given to those candidates who belongs to SC/ST.

    This exam has 3 main steps, namely the preliminary exam , the mains exam and an Interview.
    After clearing the Preliminary exam; you will have to appear for the mains exam and the Interview. The rank list will be based on the aggregate marks scored by the candidates in the exam.
    And then after final selection you are awarded the posts of your choice and according to your rank.
    So to become an IPS Officer you will have to go through these stages.
