Both the exams are conducted by UPSC once in a year.
Both the exams has same Eligibility that one must have bachelor degree from a recognized university and age limit for these exams are 21-30 years.

In IPS exam the physical standard is also required but it is not in case of IAS exam.

IAS , IPS comes under civil services for that you give civil services examination.

For civil services examination there are many requirements which are such as :

• Candidate must be passed his/her graduation from any recognized university and also can apply in last year of graduation.
• Candidate must be citizen of India.
• Candidate must be under 21-30 years. BC candidate has 3 years age relaxation and SC/ST candidate has 5 years age relaxation.
• For that examination no percentage is required , if candidate just have passing marks in graduation are also eligible.

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services and IPS stands for Indian Police Service. You have to apply for Civil Services Examination since Civil Services Examination is conducted by UPSC every year for the recruitment of candidates for the post of IAS, IRS, IPS.

The basic eligibility criteria for Civil Services Exam are as follows:
The candidate must hold any degree in any discipline from any recognized university.
The age limit is 21-30 yrs
The maximum number of attempts for General category is 4
The candidate should be Indian

Special Physical Requirements For IPS
1.Minimum height of 165 cm for Men and 150 cm for Women (minimum height is relaxable to 160 and 145 cm for Men and Women respectively in the case of candidates belonging to ST and to races such as Gorkhas, Garhwalias, Assamese, Kumaonis, Nagaland Tribals etc.)

2.Min Chest girth fully expanded: 84 cm for Men and 79 cm for Women. Expansion of 5 cm for Men and Women.

3.Total amount of Myopia (including the cylinder) should not exceed minus 4.00 D and total amount of Hypermetropia (including the cylinder) should not exceed plus 4.00 D

4.Presence of Squint is a disqualification

IAS and IPS, both are prestigious posts in our Country.

For both posts, there is only one exam i.e Civil services exam conducted by UPSC.

Depending upon the rank, candidates are alloted to various posts.

The eligibility required to give this civil services exam is any degree from recognized university with minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years for general category.

There is age relaxation for reserved category candidates.

The minimum age is 21 years and maximum is 33 years for OBC Category.

The minimum age is 21 years and maximum is 35 years for SC/ST Category.

The minimum age is 21 years and maximum is 40 years for PWD/ Ex-service men.

ELIGIBILITY FOR I.A.S. EXAMINATION:-

- The students who have completed their graduation with any course like technical/ professional are eligible to apply for this examination.
- The only need is you must be a degree holder with any discipline.
- Only passing mark is required for this exam.
- The candidates who have passed their graduation from technical courses must not have any pending backlogs.
- You must be Indian citizen.
- Your age limit should be 21-30 years.
- But in case of OBC 3 years of relaxation & for SC/ST- 5 years of relaxation is present.
