Dear if you are pursuing BA with psychology as a major subject then you should prepare for civil services examinations which is under UPSC and you should have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university and final year pursuing candidates are also eligible and your age should be between 21-30 years to apply for this examination and relaxation in upper age as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates

i must suggest you to start your preparation with the NCERT books,

to have better knowledge of concepts of the high level,
you must have to gain the base knowledge of all those concepts and the base concepts are in the NCERT books,

As for the gk which is a compulsory subject

And also watch daily a national news channel

Also can take help from the Ncert book from of 8th to 10th

of the social studies book of history and geography and the economics

And also choose the optional subject first the 2 optional subject

As then start preparing for the exam

But you can apply for the exam after completing your graduation

Or even can apply in final year too as final year student allowed

Yes you can start the preparation for the exam very first year of your graduation so that at the time when you are eligible for the exam you have done enough preparation for the exam .
Currently you should do the following things .
-> Read the social science book of std 5-12 of cbse .
-> read the manorama year book , various competitive magazine like CSR , Pratiyogita darpan , Frontline etc .
-> Improve your english by reading english news paper , magazine , cbse std 8-12 english book for the grammer .
-> Improve the aptitude & logical reasoning .
-> Select the optional subject and start the preparation .

1.choose two optionals carefully & start improving writing in them, do practice to write answers in essay manners in particularily these two subjects atleast.
2. learn NCERT BOOKS FROM class III to XII,fro the general studies.

4.purchase a good ATLAS,learn it heartly.

UPSC can conducts the civil services examsfor( IAS,IPS) also conducts CMS,IES,CPF,CDS,IFS etc......
UPSC takes these exams every year.

IAS,IPS,IES,IFS exams can be conducts in 2 stages namely

Preliminary exam
Main examination.

After completion of preliminary exam you are eligible for Main examination.

After clearing the main examination you will be called for final interview.

Preliminary examination should consist of 2 papers.Which is conducted on objective type only.

Main examination should consist of 9 papers,it is a descriptive exam.

Eligiblity:


Education qualifications;

You have to pass your graduation in any recognized university.

why noy, you can statrt. You download exact syllabus of UPSC from UPSC website upsc.gov.in and prepare accordingly. your graduate degree must be from UGC approved university. For other details you go on UPSC website www.upsc.gov.in

Yes you have to start preparation now. First of all you have to go through the Question Pattern for which exam you want to appear. You can download and print Previous Years Question Papers at www.upsc.gov.in

NCERT books are best for the basic knowledge because it covers full syllabus of UPSC.

You can also practice more and more MODEL Question Papers from a sample paper by which you can experience to the Questions coming in UPSC exams.
