    dear aspirant,

Yes, you can definitely apply for IES exam after completing Engineering in ECM. because For IES(Indian Engineering Services) exam you must have engineering degree in any discipline.

Indian Engineering Services exam is conducted by UPSC every year. But you are required to give the papers in any one of the following four streams.
    Civil Engineering
    Electrical Engineering
    Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
    Mechanical Engineering

for appearing in exam you have to fulfill some other requirement like:

    >>Engineering degree in any discipline from recognized college or university

    >>your age must be within 21 years to 30 years . there is relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

Important Dates for upcoming Engineering Services Exam in 2013 :

    Date Of Notification - 16-03-2013

Last date for Receipt of application - 15-04-2013

Re: Am I eligible for UPSC IES exam after completing B.Tech in ECM branch?

    Dear Friend

IES is the Indian Engineering services examinations also called engineering services examinations.

The basic eligibility criteria for the IES examinations are as follows:

Any candidate who has done his bachelor's degree in engineering /technology from a recognized university or is in the final year of the engineering is eligible for the IES examinations.

So donot worry you are eligible for the IES examinations but there is a condition that candidate from branches other than core branches that are:

    1.Civil engineering

    2.Electrical engineering

    3.Electronics and communication engineering

    4.Mechanical engineering

have to select the subjects from these branches for conventional papers for the IES examinations.

From my point of view you should select the subjects from the electronics and communication engineering as you are from electronics and computer science engineering so in both electronics is common .So you will have to do little effort.

    The age limitations:

    General: 21-30 years

    OBC:21-33 years

    SC/ST:21-35 years

Note : For your convenience here ,I have provided you the exam pattern for the IES exam for ECE branch.

Hope the information provided by help you .All the best

Re: Am I eligible for UPSC IES exam after completing B.Tech in ECM branch?

    Hello

YES YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE IES(INDIAN ENGINEERING EXAM).

First of all let me tell you that ,any candidate having a engineering degree from any stream is applicable for the UPSC IES exams.
But the problem is that they have the option of appearing only under the four branches that is

    1)Civil Engineering.
    2)Mechanical Engineering.
    3)Electronics and Communication Engineering.
    4)Electrical Engineering.

The candidates having a engineering degree are ver much eligible for the IES,but the fact is that you have to apply under this four stream, that it does not matter that which stream you belong to in your engineering degree, but will have to apply or choose and study any four subjects ,stream that is mentioned above.

It appear to you as a joke, but it is true all of them play politics, the government only have four categories to recruit engineers, but just to keep mouth shout they have asked every engineer to apply.

Am I eligible for UPSC IES exam after completing B.Tech in ECM branch?

Hello, currently i'm pursuing B.tech with E.C.M branch as specialization. I would like to attend IES exams. But i'm not sure whether i'm eligible for that exams, as UPSC website shows eligibility criteria suitable for only 4 branches, it means civil, mechanical, electrical, e&t. But i'm from e.c.m(electronics and computer engineering), still have a doubt, whether i'm eligible for IES exams.

Please do guide me in this.
    Thank you.
