Re: Can I apply for SCRA (Special Class Railway Apprentice) exam with B.Tech (Mechanical) as qualification? Hello The Eligibility criteria for the SCRA is 1)The candidates must have done their 10+2 or any other equivalent exam to 10+2 with mathematics and any one subject between physics and chemistry with second division. 2)Age limit-17 to 21 years. Now as you have done B.TECH then you must have mathematics and any one subject between physics and chemistry, but your age must be issue. But the biggest fact is that SCRA stands for the Special Class Railway Apprentice,if you qualify the entrance then there is interview and if you get selected then you will be send to the Indian Institute Of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering,Jamalpur, where you will study the 4 year course of Mechanical engineering, after which will be appointed as a group 'A' officer in the railways. Now you have already completed your mechanical engineering, then there is no sense in again going for the same study, also the success chances in the SCRA is very less. The number of vacancies is approximately 10-12 and the number of applicants is more than lakh.
