    Hi
IAS is the tough exam to crack for and you need to be very much determined in order to be an IAS officer. Therefore once you complete your graduation, the next step is to devote your two years of your life to the preparation of the IAS exam because an intense level two years preparation is must.
    Gud luck

    hi dear,
look as five fingures are not same so are individuals.that means everyone's mental ability differs from eachother.so better you should analyze and decide what amount of time you should dedicate for IAS preparation and obviously you should give first preference to you final year graduation exam.time management depends upon your mental ability.if you can cover more chapters in less time then you can give less time for it,else if you require more time to grasp things then you would have to dedicate more time for it.time is not important, how much you can remember and understand is the sole thing that matters at last.best of luck.

IAS exam is supposed to be the one of the toughest exam of India and it requires a lot of preparation to qualify this exam.....
See the preparation time for this exam depends upon your will power and how much concentration and time you are providing during the studies......
Some of the students takes just six months and crack the exam in their first attempt and some takes more time and number of attempt to qualify the exam.......
So, if you want to prepare at ease then start from the begining of the final year.........
Then within this one year time you can prepare easily for the exam.......
During preparation be in touch of the newspapers for the current affairs........

    Hi

If you want to clear the IAS exam then you must give 2- 4 hours daily for the IAS exam preparation.

You can join the coaching classes for the IAS exam this will help you.

You must have to see the previous year papers of the IAS,these will give you that idea of the exam.

You should read the books which is based on the new pattern of IAS exam.

You should make notes of the hard topics by which you can understand these topics at every time.

    Thank you...

Re: How much time should I prepare for IAS exams while pursuing final year graduation?

Dear as for as my views are concerned that if you are going to enter in the civil services competition so that firstly of all you should know about the complete system and process and try to know about the toughness and easier thing in the examination then start your preparation and when you are studying final year of your bachelor's degree then you are eligible to apply for UPSC civil services preliminary examination and your age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and relaxation in upper age as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates

UPSC civil services Preliminary Examination : Dear it would be your first test in this examination in which you will have to get qualified in two different papers which are following as

General Studies : Objective type contains 200 marks

CSAT : Objective type contains 200 marks

means you have to fight for 400 marks and will have to score minimum qualifying marks as UPSC board decides then you will be eligible to apply for mains examination

Mains Examination : There are following 9 papers conducted in this examination and only in conventional type mode and qualifying in each single paper is compulsory and you will have to choose any two subjects in this exam as optional in your mains and you can choose any two from the following list

Paper I - Any one Indian Language out of 24 mentioned in the notification - 300 marks
Paper II - English Language - 300 marks
Paper III - Essay Writing - 200 marks
    Paper IV and V - General Studies - I & II - 300 marks each
Paper VI and VII - Any one selected optional subject - 300 marks
Paper VIII and IX - Any one selected optional subject - 300 marks

Total marks alloted for all 9 papers - 2000

List of optional subjects from which you may choose any two for mains examination

    Agriculture
    Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
    Anthropology
    Botany
    Chemistry
    Civil Engineering
    Commerce and Accountancy
    Economics
    Electrical Engineering
    Geography
    Geology
    History
    Law
    Management
    Mathematics
    Mechanical Engineering
    Medical Science
    Physics
    Philosophy
    Political Science and International Relations
    Psychology
    Public Administration
    Sociology
    Statistics
    Zoology

Interview Process : Dear if you will qualify both of the sections as prelims and mains examination then you should start preparation for interview process because you will have to qualify the interview process then your final selection would be done on the basis of the performance of mains exam and interview process

How to Prepare for this exam : Dear as you can see that there is a huge competition in each and every single department for competitive examinations means UPSC also has a lot of competition and it is being increased everyday like the population of India so that you will have to prepare hard+Smartly so that you could get qualified easily in the examination and for that you need to follow the following steps

    >> First of all you need to read the complete syllabus and find out those topics which are easy for you and find out those which are tough for you and keep them differently and start your preparation from tough topics

    >> Find out the best coaching institute in your area which provides the result better every year and see the profile, reputation, faculties, fee, timing, notes quality of that coaching then join for study

    >> Whatever coaching institutes, teaches, you have to follow and most of the coaching institutes gives not more than 8 hours everyday for preparation and then leave at you means you also have to give the same time for preparation as much coaching institute gives means if you are studying at least 8 hours everyday in the coaching institute then you also have to give more than 8 hours everyday for preparation at home

    >> Make the complete strategy and join that coaching which gives at least 5-6 hours everyday because you are pursuing final year so that it would be difficult for you to study at least 14 hours everyday without any knowledge about the examination and study material and with that coaching you can prepare for your semester examination as well

    >> You have to keep in tough with those who are serious about the preparation and really well qualified for this examination and try to collect knowledge from everywhere but only that knowledge which profits you in the examination means every time should be in mood of study

    >> You have to study according to the syllabus and at home, you should practice that subject which is tough for you means as CSAT so that give at least 60% of your time to the CSAT paper and try to solve at least 2 practice sets of CSAT and 1 set of GS everyday to make your practice sharper and faster

    >> You should not busy your mind in other things than study but when you feel bored with the study then you may go for hanging out and watch TV but not for a long time that should not be more than 1 an hour

    >> Try to compare the notes of your coaching with other coaching institutes notes and if found any thing extra and better than yours then you should ask for the same from your coaching institute and also prepare with that study material and keep in tough with the students of other coaching institutes

    >> Regular preparation and hard work definitely gets success so that you have to keep the accuracy in the preparation of the examination means do not leave on way because of the toughness of the examination

    All the best

Since you are interested to apply for the IAS, so you have to apply for the UPSC Civil services exams.
To become an IAS officers, you ahve to appear in this exams.
Civil Services exams conducted by UPSC is held in three stages:
    Prelims
    Mains
    Interview

Eligibilty to apply is Graduation Pass
Final year Graduation students can also apply for this exams.

Age should be between 21 and 30 years
OBC candiadtes can apply till 33 years
SC/ST can apply till 35 years

UPSC has also put a cap on number of attempts a candidate can give the exams and it is:
    General Category candidates: 4 times

Now to prepare for the Prelims exams minimum 6 months is required.
There are two papers in Prelims Exams.
Both the papers are in objective mode only

Re: How much time should I prepare for IAS exams while pursuing final year graduation?

Hello friend , When you start preparation u can realize that how much time to spend for the exam preparation and no can simply say prepare for the 12 hrs or 8 hrs . It is simply waste of time , you have to understand subjects and concentre on those subjects then only you an prepare will for the examination .

My point of you is preparation important but simply front of the books keep upon studying is not necessary if you bored the subject then don't study subjects and wait for the some then continue or do some thing that times .

Whenever you are studying understand the subjects then start the studying that subject without understand it is waste of preparation . And collect the some previous year question papers , Recommend books . If you feel coaching class is need then go for the Coaching class or you preparation your own it self .

Now a days lots of the center training for the civil service examinations so you can also go for the coaching class .
