    Dear Aspirant

The selection for government services like Indian Adminisntrative Services(IAS), Indian POlice Services(IPS),Indian Foreign Services(IFS),Indian Revenue Services(IRS) are done through civil services examination. It is one of the most prestigious examination conducted by UPSC every year.It is also considered as toughest examination as the whole examination process takes more than a year

See in order to appear for civil service examination you have to be minimum of 21 years of age irrespective of category you belong and minimum educational qualifications should be graduation in any discipline from any recognised university. It is only examination which gives equal opportunity to students of all streams inspite of the fields they belong if they want to become an civil servants. But keep in mind the upper age limit has been fixed to 30 years of age for General Category and relaxation of 3 years for OBC category and 5 year for SC/ST .

The examination pattern consits of two phases. The first phase is preliminary examination and second stage is main examination. If you qualify preliminary examination then you may apply for main examination. The main examination further consists of written examination and final Interview stage. The preliminary examination is objective type where as main examiantion consits conventional essay type questions. You should start your prepaartion first for preliminary examination.
