Re: Suggest a suitable optional subject for UPSC Mains exam for Biotechnology graduates? Is physics a scoring optional subject? You can choose optional in a way that you can prepare well for it and able to score good in it and if are confident that you will be able to prepare physics on your own then no harm for choosing it as optional or there is other alternative to it that is you can take last years exam for physics and try to solve it and check yourself for it and if you perform well that go for it otherwise choose other optional.

Re: Suggest a suitable optional subject for UPSC Mains exam for Biotechnology graduates? Is physics a scoring optional subject? DEAR, I want to tell you that every subject is good scoring subject. You are biotechnology students, you can choose physics as your optional subjects. You have to choose those in which you have full interest or field related subject. Never compare subject for getting marks. Based upon previous history, you have to choose Public admin and sociology as your optional subjects. I hope you will be crack preliminary exam as well as mains exam. All the best.................
Re: Suggest a suitable optional subject for UPSC Mains exam for Biotechnology graduates? Is physics a scoring optional subject? Your choice for Mains paper depends completely upon you.Any subject maybe easy for you but tough for all.If you are not in touch with Physics,or any subject for that matter, then choose only those subjects or part of subjects which you have studied in graduation level. There will be atleast one or two subjects in the subject list which is there in your graduation level.Public administration or Geography or History is a better subject if you do not want to take up your graduation subjects as they are scoring and nearly constant syllabus. You can also check previous year question papers in the UPSC website to have a better idea.Physics is not easy for Civil services if you have not studied it after 12th as it will be totally different.Till 12th Physics is more of engineering subjects rather than pure physics and you are bound to struggle.
