Obviously IAS is better than the IES.

An IAS officer has more power than the IES officer.

IAS is the top level job of India and they are appointed in various department of the government as a top officer.

So friend in my suggestion you should do the preparation for IAS exam and here you can settle a bright future.

according to your question a graduate in any discipline can write i.a.s of upsc exam.

And a b.e./b.tec hengineering candidate can write ies of upsc exam.

Ias for administrative lines and engineer not for administrative only hold's a good position and responsible for his/her work at concerned authority/employer.

Both are equel in respect of status though i.a.s officers have the power more,can contact with the ministry level very promptly.

IAS stands for Indian administrative services
IES stands for Indian engineering services.

You can give IES exam after B.E/B.Tech.Both has its own importance in his field.

But IAS is better than IES.

BOTH IES(INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICE ) AND IAS (INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE) EXAM ARE CONDUCTED BY UPSC( UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION)


COMING TOWARDS THE POWERS,HERE FRIEND WE CAN NOT JUDGE IT, AS EACH BRANCH HAS ITS OWN FUNCTIONS AND ITS OWN SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS..

ITS ALL DEPEND ON YOU WHAT YOU HAVE TO TAKE BETWEEN IAS AND IES BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO PERFORM YOUR DUTY...

Hi Friend!

Both the exams are conducted by UPSC itself.

Yes, perhaps, an IAS officer have more powers than IES officer.

As you're an ECE student, there are no subjects related to ECE in the Civil Service Exam(CSE) which has the most popular misnomer 'IAS exam'.

And there's only Electronics and Tele-communication subject in the IES exam.

So the choice is your's.

Select the one which you feel more comfortable.

selection methods are same but IAS is ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES and work and not technical govt sector and civil purpose
and IES is pure technical ENGINEERING SERVICES which is work in technical field like reilway, cole india , isro , drdo etc

both are equal post and same power but power divide in there field .

see one thing i have to say i.e.,

IAS and IES both are related to central government jobs

and syllabus also approximately same to both

so do not need to worry about the pattern of the exam

in this indian administration service exam is much tough than ies

but if you have good planning and self confidence

then you will definitely achieve what you want

both exams are held by under UPSC

so start the preparation from now onwards

dear both have their own importance related to their field and are very much powered services of the country...if we talk about technology then ies is powered and if we talk about country protection and related to nation then ias is powered ...good luck

dear both exam conducted by upsc but both are not same....
IAS-INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES
IES-INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICES
When you give the IAS then you can only work for administrative department.
and this exam you can give after graduation from any discipline But
IES only you give after B.E/B.TECH degree that's why this is differnce from IAS.
From IES you go in engineering department for higher post for e.g -DRM,GM etc.

if you what to enhance and share your technical knowledge then go for ies and
if you want to serve your country through your dedication and nation love
then prefer ias

dear friend IAS and IES both are the renowned posts in the Indian government and upsc conducts the exam for both the posts ,to crack these exams one has to work very hard with lot of dedication .both these posts are of equal stature but as you have completed your engineering so you must opt for the engineering services exam as it would be beneficial for you as well as for the country and you can clear it with less hard work then required by IAS as you will be asked questions about your engineering subjects also so dear go for it.

i want to know which is better option for engg ece student either ias or ies
which is more compartable from both
