There is age relaxation for this following;-


3 years for OBC category candidates

Age limit is 21-33 years.

5 years age relaxation for SC/ST candidates/

Age limit is 21-35 years.

10 years age relaxation for ph candidates

Age limit is 21-40 years.

the upper age limit for all category in applying in civil service exam under below
for general category - no upper age limit . for them age limit between 21 to 30 year only.
for obc category - 21 to 30 + 3 year
for sc/st category - 21 to 30 + 5 year
for handicapped persons - 21 to 30 +10 year

It is nice to hear that you want to do civil services.


First of all, I would like to tell you that Civil services examination is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) every year for the posts of IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, IES.


The upper age limit for Handicapped persons in Civil Services examination is 21-40 yrs.


Other eligibility criteria required for the civil services examination are prescribed as below:-

* Completion of graduation in any track from any accredited college or university.

* Final year contenders are also eligible.

* Age limit:- 21-30 yrs.

* Age relaxation:- 3 yrs for OBC and 5 yrs for SC/ST contenders.

* No. of attempts:- 4 for General, 7 for OBC, No limits for SC/ST contenders.

* Nationality:- Indian.

The basic eligibility criteria Civil Services Examination are as follows:

Age limit
General 21-30 yrs
SC/ST 21-35 yrs
PH(Physically handicapped) 21-40 yrs

Educational Qualification

The candidate must hold any degree in any discipline from any recognized university
Final year degree students are also eligible
Degree obtained by distance education/open university is also eligible if the university is a recognized university

Number of attempts permitted
General 4
OBC 7
PH 7
SC/ST No Limit
Nationality should be Indian.

The upper age limit for Handicapped persons in civil services examination is 10 years. The age for civil service examination is within 21-30 years. UPSC civil service exam is conducted for the recruitment of the following posts

IAS (Indian Administrative Service)

IPS (Indian Police Service)

IRS (Indian Revenue Service)

Handicapped person can also take part in the Civil Service exam.

The age limit for the civil service exam is 21 to 30 years.

Handicapped person get the 5 years age relaxation.

To apply for the Civil Service exam you should be graduated in any branch from recognized university or its equivalent.

You can also apply in final year of graduation.

There is no restriction of percentage, you should be only graduation qualified.

Age Criteria for Civil services exam:

The candidate age should be more than 21 years and less than 30 years for general category.

There is Upper age relaxation as follows for reserved category candidates.

The maximum age limit for OBC Category is 33 years.

The maximum age limit for SC/ST Category is 35 years.

The maximum age limit for PWD Category is 40 years.

for giving the upsc exam, your age should be in between 21-30 years of age if you belong to the general category. A relaxation of 3 and 5 years is given to the people from the obc and sc/st category respectively. And for the physically handicapped students, a relaxation of 10 years is given to them, that makes the age limit of physically challenged candidates for giving the upsc exam is 21-40 years
