Re: Is it possible to become an IPS officer at the age of 25 after completing BCA?

Dear IPS is a limited competitive examination means not open for all over Indian citizens because it has some limitations and that is why a general person can not apply for this examination because the required eligibility criteria is different for this examination and mandatory eligibility is following

    >> Candidate must be a citizen of India or he/she must be belong to such category of persons as may be, from time to time, be notified in this behalf by central government

    >> Must have completed 05 years of continuous and actual service as Deputy Superintendent of Police in States under State Police Service or

    >> Assistant Commandants in Central Para Military Forces or

    >> Officers or the rank of Captain or Major or Equivalent in the Armed Forces

    >> Must have an unblemished service record in the entire duration of service in past

    >> Age must not be more than 35 years and relaxation in upper age will be provided only to OBC and SC/ST category candidates that is 1 year for OBCs and 2 years in case of SC/STs as per government norms

    >> You are permitted only for two times to appear for this examination and number of attempts will be increased in case of SC/ST/OBCs

    >> Must have a completed bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university

Examination Pattern is following for this limited departmental examination

Paper I Objective Type 2 Hours duration 200 marks
Paper II Objective Type 2 Hours duration 200 marks
Paper III* English Language Descriptive Type 3 Hours duration 200 marks
Paper IV Essay Descriptive Type 3 Hours duration 200 marks
Paper V General Studies Descriptive Type 3 hours duration 200 marks
Interview Process cum Personality Test Oral or Verbal 200 marks

Now if you want to become an IPS Officer then first of all you should enter into competition for police posts and get a normal police job then increase your post but this will be a long process so that you should prepare for state public service commission examination because you can directly get a DSP rank post through state PSC but before that you have to qualify that examination and interview process then you will become DSP and you have another option also, you should appear for UPSC Central Police Force - Assistant Commandant examination and when you get the job then complete your 5 years of service then you will be eligible to apply for this exam or you may also get the Major or Captain rank through Combined Defense Service Examination that is conducted by UPSC board twice in a year so please choose anyone best and then become IPS Officer

    All the best

    Hi dear

Technically speaking, YES it is possible.

You are just 21 and according to reservation policy, as an OBC candidate you can write Civil Services Exam 7 times till the age of 33 years.

So you've got ample opportunities and enough time for preparation.

You are in your first year of degree course; so you still have four more years to hone your necessary skills.

So if you are thinking of appearing for Civil Services Examination; Start now.

Remember you will have to outsmart thousands of other aspirants to get a place in the rank list; so starting early will be beneficial in long run.

So i will suggest you to create a rough plan for coming years and start preparing for the Exam.

    Good luck..............
