    hi
the IRS selection procedure is as follows,
you need to clear all the stages of the upsc civil services exam.
Prelims, mains and the interview. All the three stages have the elimination process and finally the people who survives the interview are then given a training of 2 years of their respective departments and then they are given their respective fields and services.
    Gud luck

Re: Which students will be preferred more in IRS selection procedure?

Selection Process of IRS Officer through UPSC Indian Civil Service Examination :

Preliminary Examination : There will be two papers conducted in this test and both papers will be set in both English and Hindi medium and all questions in these papers will be asked in objective type pattern. Each paper contains 200 marks and scoring minimum qualifying marks for prelims is mandatory and qualifying marks of prelims will be calculated including both papers

Note : Prelims test will be conducted for admission in main examination and your scored marks in prelims will not be counted for determining their final order of merit

Mains Examination : Seven Papers will be conducted in conventional type pattern and scoring minimum qualifying in each paper will be necessary for all candidates according to category. Paper I will have two sections where Section I will have Essay for 200 marks and Section II will have English Comprehension for 100 marks. Next four papers will be based on General Studies as I, II, III & IV and each paper carries 250 marks. Next two papers will be based on the selected optional subject by the candidate from the list provided by the board and both of these papers also carries 250 marks each

Personality Test : When you get the result of mains exam and see that you have been qualified then you will be called for personality test and it contains 275 marks and if you score minimum marks in both mains and personality test then you may get the rank of IRS Officer but your score should be enough according to the requirement for IRS Officer post so you have to work better and study in depth of each subject to become an IRS Officer through Civil Service Examination

Here you may see that there is a fair selection process for all posts comes under ICS examination and you also will be selected on the basis of your marks of both Main and Personality Test so this is the time to think about the importance of marks to score in Main examination because your main examination is everything and then you have to perform impressive during interview process to collect good marks in that too so this may be your final selection to get the job so if you think that you should have relevant qualification or experience in related area then only you will be preferred so you are wrong because final selection is always based on marks scored by the candidates

    All the best
