Re: Minimum and maximum percentage required after 12th to become an IAS officer?

    Dear Aspirant,

Firstly you know that IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services. It comes into civil services.

For civil services examination no percentage is required , Only it is compulsory that candidate must be passed his/her graduation and also can apply in last year of graduation. If candidate just has passing marks in graduation are also eligible for civil services examination.

After 12th you go for graduation course. It does not matter that in which fields you are doing your graduation . Only you should be graduate.

Candidate must be under 21-30 years.

    Good Luck

Re: Minimum and maximum percentage required after 12th to become an IAS officer?

Friend, please note that no one can become an IAS Officer after 10+2. It is mandatory that candidate must possess any bachelor degree from the recognised university. Moreover, there is no any need of percentage marks in academic career. As the recruitment process has nothing to do with the marks or percentage marks in academic career. UPSC does not emphasis or does not given any weightage to the marks obtained the academic qualification. Only the thing required that candidate must obtained pass marks.

Re: Minimum and maximum percentage required after 12th to become an IAS officer?

    Dear Aspirant

There is no limit on maximum percentage required to appear in the main examination .But you have to passed in the tenth,12th and graduation in order to eligible for appearing in the main examination.
See 12 th passed does not make you eligible for filling form of civil service examination. You need to be passed first passed in graduation.Since the new pattern of examination has reduced the weightage of optional paper. So you can select any streams either science or art or commerce for your graduation. Infact paper in which you have lots of interest.Don't fear the arts students will get more edge than science streams or vice-versa. If you have interest in your paper with right guidance and your dedicated efforts your going to crack the examination.

Stream is not a criteria in this exam.

Also you can appear for this exam during your last year of exam.

You must be of Indian Nationality.

*** Age limit is a compulsory criteria.***

It is 21 to 30 yrs for General.

    dear aspirant,

for IAS you need graduation degree from recognized college or university. you can't become an IAS officer on the basis of 12th qualification. there is no requirement of percentage. you need not to worry and concentrate on graduation.

for IAS your age must be within 21 years to 30 years on 1 August of the year of exam. There is also available relaxation in upper age limit according to government norms as 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

The three phases are CSAT(Prelims), Mains and Interview

Re: Minimum and maximum percentage required after 12th to become an IAS officer?

    IAS means Indian Administrative Service.

Out of the civil services available, IAS is the top most civil service.

The minimum eligibility for IAS Exam is Graduation.

    As per your query,

the percentage of marks is not a mandate in Graduation to apply for IAS Exam.

If you successfully complete your Graduation, that is more than enough.

Then you can apply for IAS Exam.

First round is civil services aptitude test. then Main Exam.
